Bill Gates was the culprit all along. :D I think what I like best about that solution is that it wouldn't need to be on the show so your story could totally be canon. Apparently I hadn't given much thought to the cause of the crash (they just left as some problem with the repairs, right?) but I liked the idea there was something more to it, but then if it was alien interference in their systems that'd sort of demand at least a mention in the next episode, but having it be a windows malfunction is so perfectly normal it would be a non-issue. :) Boy, there were a lot of buts in that sentence... Anyway, I really enjoy your writing and I'm happy there's a nice collection for me to catch up on. Keep on writing!

Great story although, I seriously doubt the SGC would do something so stupid as to send the expedition with something so unreliable and crappy as Windows on their computers. All the scientists would riot. Though I can understand why you did in this story since it was the whole point. ;) For future ref though (just in case) it's either Linux or a Unix based OS that they created that they're using on their laptops, at least fromwhat I've seen on their screens on the show. Something similar probably goes for the SGC itself.

BTW, it's interesting that most people assume that Rodney has always been a little chubbly. If you check out his movies about 15 years ago ("Where the Heart Is" for example) he's skinny as a rail! Late 30s syndrome strikes again.
Beth Green 2006-06-08 ch 2,	abuseHowdy! I've only recently discovered SGA (drat those pimps at MediaWest :) ! Since then, I've been hopping, skipping, and jumping through the fanfic. I was most impressed with DH's performance in 'Grace Under Pressure,' but I really wished that there had been MORE. Therefore, I went Googling to fulfill that particular need. I want to thank you for fulfilling my need, and so nicely, too! I have a BSN in nursing, and one of the things that bugs me is when the medical details in a story do not reflect reality. I'm very happy to say that I could find no fault with anything you wrote. In fact, when you mentioned 'nitrogen narcosis,' I mentally slapped myself upside the head, thinking, 'That thought should have occurred to you.' After all, as Beckett points out, Rodney is not a doctor. With this story, you were kind enough to give the episode's writers an 'out', as well. I also like the education that you provided when you wrote: >I don't usually use curse words in my writing (I do have access to a thesaurus, after all), but apparently that phrase is the most common 'last words' found on the flight recorder of crashed airplanes, so I thought it might be more authentic. (The second most common phrase is 'I think we're gonna make it'< Heh-heh! As an added bonus, you provided an explanation for the Jumper's crash, as well as some additional trials and tribulations. Thanks so much for sharing!
