Wow. I just read 1-8 of "Atonement's a Bitch".

I think Buffy finally got rid of it. I couldn't. Everything went to hell and all I could do was put in new double glazing afterwards.

ow ow ow. You're patching all the holes in S7. No rest for the wicked. ;-)

The look on Richard's face when she called him "Sugardaddy". And the flip her heart made when he wouldn't have any of that.

The Mayor was the very best villian of BtVS, simply because he had something that made you root for him... his love for Faith and her return of his love. That creates the tension any good story requires, like when you admire Hector in the Iliad, or Lee and Stonewall's sheer generalship while deploring their cause.

It seemed there was some trouble with Buffy's mattress, though, since when he woke up a few minutes before she did, they had both drifted towards the middle and she was curled up right next to him.

*sniff* Nothing so Faith as her kicking lovers out of bed, unless...

Throwing her knife at the spider, not realizing until afterwards that she'd just saved Wesley's life.

somercet: What is your supremo Faithy moment...?
somercet: For me, it's whipping that knife into the spider. She looks SO DAMN GOOD at it.
frogfarm: ah i was thinking of dialogue lines, not necessarily just moments period
frogfarm: that makes it harder
somercet: I mean, a moment that just pins the character. Dark room, shadows, tense, illicit negotiations, immediate dealing with the threat... Faith. For me, that knife throw just distances her from Buffy, who seems to hold her fight skills at a distance. For Faith, she is her skills. Especially, though, it's simply Eliza who sells that. She throws that knife like a trained killer whose life depends on that throw. That was William Goldman's gold standard for an actor: give him or her a crappy part, and they would SELL IT.

"Hey, I ain't knockin' it, I mean it's obviously working out for Red... It just wasn't for me. Spent most of my time in solitary, if you know what I mean."

Innocent When You Dream

Frank's Wild Years

even once – and this was a memory Buffy would never admit to another living soul – Horny Faith... Under all those different faces, behind all those walls was something else... call her Innocent Faith.

You are the First. You eat us, starting with our bottoms.

The younger girl shrugged and held her hand out. "Dawn Summers."
Faith looked at it for a few seconds before taking and shaking it. "Nice to meet you. I'm Faith."
"Yeah? I heard a lot about you..."
"Seems everyone has."

I teared up, damn you.

"Also, you know, being cooped up with nothing but women becomes frustrating..."
"I could think of worse things."

*snort* You'd think they'd have had a deeper convo on that trip. Also, I love appetite!Faith.

The last person in Sunnydale who even liked you, Faith, turned into a snake and went kablooie four years ago

Deeper, in this case, meaning hostile.

You're great.

These scenes are very impressive. The characters actually sound like themselves. My favorites are Miles to Go, Eavesdropping, and Innocent When You Dream. Awesome job!

Great interaction between Faith and Robin. I like the way she explains the scar, and the whole part about his mother and his issues. And the end is just...really great. Blame the mattress all you want, but deep down Faith's not as hard as she likes to pretend she is.

They're all great, I loved each chapter...hope you have some more up your sleeve, there's so many more you can do...hint hint hint ;-)

Yes, LOVED it some more! Faith's vulnerability is so endearing because she tries to cover it up with her toughness. But you did a great job showing her underlying fear, that she really is evil underneath it all, that redemption isn't possible for her, that she is nothing but the Bad Slayer to Buffy's Good. This makes me want to hug Faith, although I don't see her allowing that kind of sap. Your Giles is 100% pure, and I love him for stepping up to the Watcher plate for Faith when she needs him to, putting their past aside and being for her what she never had.

I want more! Can you oblige?

Excellent Season 7 Buffy perspective. You really hit home with her overwhelming sense of responsibility here, her desire to protect everyone when she knows that's impossible, her underlying wish to share some of the burden with Faith because she's the only other person in the world who might understand. I never bought into the "Bitchy Buffy" camp that was so predominant this season. She acted the way she did because of the enormity of what she was facing and the incredible weight of that burden. Okay, getting off topic here...

I loved this: "...Xander had brought over from his apartment before he... (no, don’t go there. She couldn’t think about Xander and what she had let happen to him.)"

because it's a great example of that feeling of responsibility that just about destroyed Buffy. What happened to Xander wasn't her fault, but of course she thought it was, which is why she wasn't up for hospital games with him and Willow, and yeah, that ended up making her look a little cold, but it was because she loved him so much.

There I go again. Bottom line: Fantastic story! Please give us more missing scenes, and soon.
