Hey Amos! I loved this to the point of reading it three times in a row. there are parts in there, which really strike my heart. One of the bits I'd like to use in my Quotes section in my profile:

Jack loved life; Kyra loved death. They may have been the same body, but they weren’t the same person. Kyra was just stronger, forced Jack away, deep down inside her soul. Jack would have held on. She would have clung to that branch with everything she had, if not for herself than for me. Because I was clinging to that same branch right beside her.

Kyra didn’t. Kyra let go. The wind blew her off somewhere, God knows where. And she took Jack down with her.

wow. this story was very good. I loved the analogy. It was perfect. The whole story was perfect. You did a great job. It was so sad, poor Riddick. But yeah, keep it up. You kick butt. ;)

I wasn't sure what to expect when I clicked the link, but I was happily surprised. I like how Riddick thinks of Jack and Kyra as being two separate people--they seemed like two very different characters to me when I watched the movies. I wish I could think of something better to say, but just know that you did very well, especially considering that you did it in less than 500 words. Kudos! :)

Very nice. You really managed to capture Riddick's character in this, right down to the "I’m not naïve. I’m going to die someday. But I’m bound and determined to give the universe hell before I let go."

Some very interesting thoughts, too. I like his reasoning about autumn. I'm still going to keep clinging to the hope that Jack/Kyra isn't dead yet ;)

Great little introspective. I loved the symbolism with the leaves, good stuff. I also liked how you put the Jack/Kyra thing, nicely done. Thanks for the great read.

Very well written. I would have to agree with you about the thin line that fall is. And it is so wonderous, the will in which somethings have; to hold on; to not "go gently into that good night." When the alternative is the easy way out; to just give in and fade away.
