It's been several months since you've updated. Is this story on hiatus or do you plan on resuming it? It's such a good story and it would be a shame to leave it unfinished.

First, and this is small potatoes, wasn't it Sir Edmund's saber? (I'm too lazy to look it up right now to be sure.) Also, I think you're right. I think we need more information between chapters 2 and 3. I liked the POV just fine though. It was a rough transition only because you set up this monumental meeting between Diego and Alejandro, and then we never really got to see it aside from a few words. Which, from an author's point of view, is only problematic because now you have no good way of slipping the back-story into our understanding of the present. I think you'll be kicking yourself later if you don't add it now. Obviously, that's just my opinion. You have to do what you think is best for the story.

Second, I like this story! And I liked your last one too! All the King's Horses is one of my favorite Zorro fanfics. If you're debating between works, personally I would totally love a sequel to All the King's Horses.

Which brings me to my third point. I'd rather you just finished one. Whichever story is striking your muse, so be it. But please, don't taunt me with another chapter to this story a year from now. That'd be sad for all sorts of reasons. I'd be more than happy to bounce ideas, beta, or whatever will help your process along. My email is on my profile. Dark beginning. Certainly caught my attention! I'm interested in where you're going to take this...how you will develop Diego's personality to bring out his more human heroic side. I like the premise, that Diego will be living in his brother's shadow (since everyone believes Gilberto was the stronger of the two). The romance between Victoria and Diego will be interesting...Thanks for posting.

This was a good chapter. I like how Diego is going to be an "everyday" hero. I think it sets a good premise for a story and I am looking forward to seeing where this leads. I hope you update again soon.

It actually looks more intriguing now than it did from the original prologue. I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with it. And a Diego who's more heroic in the "down to earth", "everyday" ways seems a lot more believable than the purely archetypical hero we normally see...although I STILL think "All the King's Horses" is the best Zorro I've ever read.

D: Just when I liked Gilberto, you...you...killed him! *cries* I like your story's premise, though-Lord knows Diego would be stubborn enough to go to Spain and stay there over an argument. :3 I'd really love to see where this is going.

This is very well-written, and very intriguing. I can't wait to read more (I can wait, really I can). Gilberto and Victoria? That is an odd concept, with Diego out of the picture or unwilling to take her from his brother? I love the relationship you've described between the two brothers - I wish there could be more of it, though with Gilberto now dead that seems unlikely in anything but flashbacks. I could see Diego and Alejandro falling out, for whatever reason. I always thought that I'd like to have seen some sort of resolution to Alejandro calling Diego a coward on the show. Alejandro (and Victoria as well) didn't often see how much good Diego did as Diego, or didn't make much of it when they did. Whether this was because Diego made such an effort to throw attention off of himself or because Zorro was so much flashier when he did similar thingswith his intelligence, I still thought that Diego did quite a lot of good as himself for the pueblo that Zorro supplemented with his sword and Alejandro was blind to it unless Diego was in the mask. The show never got around to resolving this to my satisfaction (it ended too soon, for one thing) and there was never any scene of reconciliation in the episode where Alejandro called Diego a coward - they were just suddenly back to normal. Diego couldn't really let his temper out on the show without revealing himself, so I think it will be interesting to see them argue out their differences without that impediment. Now that I've blathered on entirely too much, well done! And please post the finished story, even if it takes a while.
