KHFFotaku 2009-08-28 . chapter 27You're quite an amazing author. I must say, I've been raiding your stories for the past few days (as you may have noticed by the many favorites, alerts, and reviews by me), and you are most certainly a wonderful author. All of your work is great, and this especially.
I must say, this story is CRAZY! At first, it's understandable and all, but after a few chapters, the oc goes absolutely out of control and it practically turns into and whole brand new story. Also, Red X himself disappears completely after a while, which kind of sucked. I wouldn't have minded if the story stayed more teen-titans-related throughout the story, instead of ridiculous ooc and such among Raven, who is really the only Teen Titans character here, for the most part.
Not that I didn't like the story though. As I said, it was really great. I just love how you write. It's very flexible, and isn't arrogant or cocky, which easily makes me turn down many books. You're very easy to read and enjoy, and I absolutely love a writer like that. You also have an actual vocabulary, which, perhaps to your surprise, many many people don't have on this website. Although there were a few times where you skipped words, but hey, everyone makes mistakes. It's just a little signature about you.
And also, one more thing, in another story of yours, you asked if people ever read your author comments. I was too lazy to reply to that, but I'll tell you, man, your author comments are HILARIOUS! They have probably made me laugh more than your stories themselves! Just how ironic and comical you can be when you're just telling the readers what you're up to. It's the perfect side dish to your main story. It's not TOO much blathering, but you're still reminding readers that you're indeed human and you're going through human things too. It's got relevant things, and non-relevant things, but just enough of both, so I actually love reading your author comments. Some people, like, seriously put a whole autobiography of themselves in their stories, which really sucks. But not you, oh no, you're just right!
Well, yup, this is a long winded review. Anyway, I can't wait for your sequel(s?). I will much look foreward to it, and any stories you may happen to post. ^_^
Sorry if there are any grammar mistakes here, I'm doing this off my iPhone. It's weird.
Thanks,
Shinya. |

LM22102 2007-07-12 . chapter 27Holy sht. I'm so fscking tired. I can't even write articulate enough to sound decent. Holy sht.
I just stayed up the last few hours to read this. It's close to 4am. Yes, I read it all at once. No, I can't review properly since I'm typing very slowly trying not to make too much noise ..
But holy sht. You just finished this! (I usually tend to read complete stories only). AND THERE'S A SEQUEL. I'm gonna be .. waiting for so long. Ah, but it's appreciated, really. From a writer's POV, I understand the whole process. So thank you for the time and effort for writing WHC. Especially your patience.
On to the review.
Hopefully, I don't get cut off. :(
All in all, I really did honestly enjoy this piece. A story within a story. That's what I love about these rare things. Your fiction didn't start when I began to read it, no, I was immediately thrown into a universe that was completely different from what I was aware of. And I relished it, I divulged in it, I savored every moment. The confusion, though growing impatient at times, was, as I believe, imperative to the story. As a reader, you cannot possibly know everything that is to be known. As a writer, you must help yourself, at all costs, to refrain from giving all that information out.
And I think you did so well on that fact. You were consistent. That's what's gorgeous about you, as a writer. Consistency. You were constantly in line with your own story, you didn't sway to make people understand, you held firm.
Story-wise.
The plot was intricate, the scenes well placed, well paced. Despite few appearances from the rest of the titans, I think they had enough lines to showcase them as a team in a story and not a push-shove-and-hide-forever role. I think Raven and Starfire's personalities were only OOC as far as their situation had let them. And that was pretty far. You did good on their characters.
Grammar, structure, and blahblahblah wise. I don't remember. I honestly don't. I'm just so mind-blanked right now. So tired. But I don't regret it. I've got to check your profile tomorrow. :) If I remember.
Epilogue .. Mhm.. I think .. it was absolutely, undeniably well written for such. In truth, I really did not expect a sequel. Was it wanted? Yes. Was it forseen? No. The ending was in such way, that I did, indeed, have closure from it. Not a lot of writers are capable of it. Offering closure, and yet, extending a continuation, both with desiring results.
You are in very high regards in my sight as a writer right now. I congratulate you on a beautifully written fiction. And no, not in the sights of an ignorant, omgwtfbbq!iloveteentitans! fan type.
No, not at all. As a writer (however bad I may be!), a reader (I've read since I was a child .. even though I can't write, I do believe I can distinguish between good and bad writing!), a critique, and even now, a very truthful fan.
I cannot express, through words, how much I enjoyed the story. I have not read one of such caliber AND length in such a long time. I must thank you again, your hard work, your sweat is in this, and it shows. You did very, very well. Take a break, breathe some air.
Remember why you love writing so much and muse yourself back into the WHC universe for that sequel. Wink, wink.
No, but really, take your time. The multiple stages of writing a story is understandable. From me, at least. Haha.
Ack .. so tired.. Eyes barely hanging on to these letters.
Thanks. ... I hope I don't get cut off. That's happened to me a few times already. :( |
