As to age difference, at the start it probably feels a bigger gap, but by war's end and certainly when they meet up again the gap won't be quite so big anymore. So how you see it feels right. ^__^

Well, I suppose they'll eventually learn to work together, at least if they don't kill each other first.

I liked this, and I feel that the fight scene was actually thought through fine. Yes I can see the young Shichiroji, being as you have described as well. I think with Kanbei... maybe it's just me, but I figure he would have got to an age and then become ageless.
