JimandArtie4ever 6/2/12 . chapter 1A great story. Very well written. |
bluemeanies 1/29/12 . chapter 1I'm alsways looking for stories in this era about Snape and this was done particularly well, thank you. |
Badbonita 5/21/10 . chapter 1That's a nice little look into the possible past. And completely plausible. Thanks! |
Zuzanny 6/2/09 . chapter 1Yay. Good on hagrid for coning to that understanding! :) |
dancingfirefly124 4/18/08 . chapter 1This was great! I really love the comparison between Fang and Snape here. I've always felt the way Hagrid defended Snape to Harry had undertones of protectiveness, so I love seeing that here, even though he needs a bit of convincing. :-) |
Carol J 4/9/06 . chapter 1Wonderful story! |
Luceid 3/26/06 . chapter 1Good show. |
Satan Junior No Super Hentai 3/24/06 . chapter 1interesting |
Harriverse 3/22/06 . chapter 1 It was a pleasant surprise to read your story! You had a great idea and executed it with surprising gentleness. I think you could give Dumbledore a run for his money! Thank you! |
excessivelyperky 3/21/06 . chapter 1Oh, what a lovely story! I wished Rowling would show more interaction between Hagrid and Snape, but then Harry might see Snape when he wasn't snarling, and I suppose we can't have that, after all. There are some things that Hagrid understands with his heart that even Dumbledore doesn't. Snape just might be one of them. After all, Hagrid is the only adult, quite possibly, who has never hurt Severus. |
mercutio-rane 3/21/06 . chapter 1 Oh! *squee* This was too cute. Dumbledore and Hagrid's conversation had some fantastic pacing, and your dialogue between them is so so lively! Can't wait to see where you take this one! Gods, you're a brave woman starting all of these at once! I'd have a nervous breakdown, but I know you love having several to work on and can work on them as you feel like it! ;) I'm going to write you a long, blathering e-mail this weekend! Just a warning ;) X rane |
shakespeare's sister 3/21/06 . chapter 1ah, lovely. perfectly structured. i am, as ever, your devoted, SS (check out the initials eh!) ... stay... with... me... :-D |
Tharin 3/21/06 . chapter 1A well written story. I like your characterization of Hagrid, and the comparison between Fang and Snape. It seems like Dumbledore, to point out the similarities between the two, because he knows that this is engough reason for Hargid to give Snape a chance. A part that made me laugh was this one: "He suspected that Fang thought himself clever for allying with the biggest member of the Hogwarts human pack – he certainly took comfort in hiding behind his large master when threatened. Hagrid supposed that Snape had done the same in throwing himself on the protection of the most powerful Light wizard in the world, the only person who You-Know-Who had ever been scared of." |
Oya 3/21/06 . chapter 1Ah, I would have never expected Hagrid to speak against Severus' employment. I've always seen him as the friendliest person on Earth, just doesn't know how to keep a secret. If it were me, I'm sure I would not be able to keep being friendly and accomodating to Severus, because I'll definitely get too frightened by him. Sigh. Severus really doesn't make it easy for himself. And I can only blame the people in his childhood. JKR did say something during an interview that Severus seems worse than Voldy cos he still went bad despite having been loved. But if he was bullied badly, I'm sure all that love still won't be able to help. I'm in a delimma, I don't know if I should put this fic up on my C2, since there's only Hagrid and Dumbledore although they're talking bout Severus. Do drop me a mail on what you think, ya? :) |
duj 3/21/06 . chapter 1I think Albus is wrong here to draw the parallel with Hagrid. He should have kept his promise to himself never to tell Hagrid what had been said and thought of other methods of convincing him to give Snape a second chance. (He did, in fact, think of other methods afterwards.) For a start, he could have replied with the words he thought to himself, the number of times Snape had risked death to save people who'd never done anything but hurt him, both before and after. Pity Snape doesn't ever seem to have received the "little personal kindness in a proper home" even after he came back to Hogwarts. Or maybe he got a little till Harry arrived on the scene, but certainly none after that. I'm judging by PoA, where Dumbledore's disregard for Snape's feelings is particularly blatant throughout the entire book and particularly in those final scenes where he discredits Snape's testimony to Fudge in order to protect people like Lupin who were clearly at fault. (Sorry, I do tend to go on about Lupin. Because he's pleasant, everyone forgives him for having effectively betrayed EVERYONE at the school for an entire year in favour of someone that he himself believed to be a mass-murderer coming to finish the job. And though he eventually admits himself at fault for not having told about Sirius's animagus abilities, his complicit silence about secret passages into the school and his failure to share the best surveillance tool ever - the Marauder's Map - with the rest of the staff doesn't get a mention or a regret.) |
