this is a wonderful example of my belief that kenshin is not suffering from any sort of dissociative disorder... he is who he is, the so called rurouni persona is only a mask, a facade so he doesn't scare the spit out of those he passes.

this kinda blew me away, the imagery, the speed in which he dropped the mask and then put it back on again... like watching it in slow motion. written with the grace and eloquence that kenshin wields his sword.

thank you,

ginny

This is lovely. Short but very well written. _

You drew such a vivid picture that I could see it all happening in the gathering dusk. There are enough details to take me there and enough general description for my mind to fill in the rest. I would need to reread a few times to figure out what you actually wrote and what you merely inspired. Well done and thanks for posting.

that was beautiful and chilling. I love your poignant description of the wandering Kenshin. Sometimes, it's hard to remember just how young Kenshin is when he started wondering.

Oh wow. This is so beautifully written! Amongst other things, very aurally pleasing - we just had to read it aloud. The beginning sentence drew us right in. The description of Kenshin, his attire, his sword, followed by his facial appearance, was a wonderful contrast. "But he is no pacifict', what a great way to sum him up!

The next scene, with the would be attackers, that was great, and although it was predictable what would happen, there was still that edge of suspense which had us almost gleefully awaiting the conclusion, not 'what' but 'how' these men would be taught a lesson..."Most men never saw danger in youth and beauty until it was too late." Love that line.

As for the scene after-ouch!

We always knew that sakabatou did a lot of damage. Steel doesn't have to have a blade to hurt! That was awesome, gave us the shivers. You don't want to mess with Kenshin, not even a Kenshin whose sworn not to kill.

Samurai myth, how very appropriate. Thanks for an awesome read! :D Can't wait to read more of your writing.

Wow... This is rather chilling, actually. I like it. Alot. This is... amazing. I'm speachless.

I really like the way you portrayed Kenshin. My favorite lines would have to be:

He steps with all the confidence of a master, a seasoned killer, but he speaks humbly and his sword, some few people are knowledgeable enough to notice, is of a very strange making. He has sworn, he admits, his eyes lowered, that he will not take another man’s life –

But he is no pacifist.

I noticed that oftentimes, in the series, it's mentioned that Kenshin is a pacifist, but he's still fighting, and he's still hurting people. He's just not killing them, not taking their lives away. And that's the difference between him and his former self as a hitokiri.

You have some fine work. I'm glad to have come across it.

A poignant illustration of Kenshin's wandering days. Calm confidence, ingrained habits of Kyoto, a transient shadow that quickly dissolves into memory. In particular, I like the line, "But he is no pacifist."

Left me quite speechless, this one ;) A perfect story to this rainy day :) Thank you.
Ranuel 4/2/06 . chapter 1
Wonderfully atmospheric. I love how he doesn't seek out trouble but he has no problem with making sure that the men won't hurt anyone again.
