What makes you think they didn't? Stupid Severus, you Fumbles will sacrifice anybody and anything for his 'greater good'! Hedwig! Harry should have done magic to save her. Is it possible she pecked Vernon? An owl is a dangerous bird of prey after all.

I'm adding this to my alerts but I think that's probably pointless given that you stated in the note that the next chapter was in progress at posting, over 2 years ago. Either you've abandonned the fic or stopped posting here, which would be a shame as you've left no "forwarding address".
