Goodnite Moon 2009-09-19 . chapter 36I read this story a long while ago and I still re-read it from time to time. You have a wonderful gift. The story, the history and the way you portrayed and molded the characters throughout - fantastic! |
Blonde-Existentialist 2009-08-18 . chapter 36Oh such a wonderful, lovely, well written story. And to top it off such a satisfying ending! For a long time I wasn't sure how you were going to work that one out, particularly in the relationship department, because there were all so well written and had such chemistry, but I think it turned out lovely. Its an obviously tricky situation, so you have to do it very delicately, which you did.
Great writing, both in style, content and structure, which is a major thing I look for. And the characters were well developed and expressed feelings and thoughts without necessarily having to exactly spell everything out. The plot was well done and believable(for the most part) as well.
I particularly liked the growth and developement of the characters. I think of everyone, Mugen was the one who grew and matured the most and became more responsible rather than selfish and rash and impulsive, to a degree obviously, since the core character isn't gonna change. The others were lovely as well, and it was a great look into Jin's head. Overall very well done, and I love that you had a pretty clear focus and target from the beginning and steadily worked towards it to a satisfying ending without getting sidetracked or confused on the way! |
Blonde-Existentialist 2009-08-16 . chapter 13So far I quite enjoy the characters, characterization, and plot. It practical and believable, and better still, well written. Just review to mark where I'm stopping for the moment, and looking forward to reading more. |
iloveprettysilverhair 2009-07-04 . chapter 36This was an absolutely WONDERFUL story. It had sucked me in and wouldn't let me go until I finished it in...let's see, 4 days. So incredibly worth the headache I got from staring at a computer screen too long.
The characterizations were nicely done, the story was very interesting, and it had just the right amount of humor, angst, and romance to be well proportioned.

Langus 2009-01-22 . chapter 36I'm very sorry I waited through 36 chapters before leaving a review. It was terribly rude but I just couldn't stop reading. This story was so beautifully weaved with the right amount of action and emotion and sensuality. It's the first SC fic I've read and I think you may have spoiled me from this point onward. I really don't see how any other could compare to this. I wish this could be animated. It was so visual as I went through it, almost like I was watching the show all over again. Your characterizations were perfect and I'm so incredibly happy you allowed her and Jin to come together. At the end of the series I'd always wondered if she'd gone to search him out someday. He was so much in need of someone like her. I'm sorry, I can't stop gushing. Wonderfully, wonderfully done. Thank you for writing and thank you for sharing.

Cantare 2009-01-22 . chapter 36I have a final exam in less than 6 hours, and instead of studying I spent the night reading your fic. I'm not even sure if I'll wake up in the morning, and I probably shouldn't be writing this review.
I finished Champloo just yesterday and have been going through intense withdrawal, especially toward a certain ronin, and this fic is just what I needed (and also a lot of what I didn't need) to satisfy the itch. You really mastered the subtleties and the quirky personalities of all the characters. I liked how you brought in so many secondary characters like Jouji, Yatsuha, etc. and made them play important roles. Things seemed so seamless. The rich history and politics showed ample research and I was glad to see how much work went into each chapter. You must have planned the hell out of this thing. Especially to keep readers on such a roller coaster ride regarding the final pairing. I am a staunch JinxFuu fan so I felt my heart get run through several times in the beginning and middle, and I was so happy when they finally got together. Then you apparently killed him, and I despaired. But I thought, no way, that last chapter is coming up quick and there's no way she would put Fuu with Mugen after all that happened. Of course there was no way to be sure since your writing is so unpredictable in a delightful and torturous way. I am glad that I was right though. At first I thought you were going to do the rather cliche thing of having Fuu go with Mugen because he was the more desperate one who would be less likely to hang around as her friend afterward, while Jin was the nice gentleman who could settle for being her friend. Thank you thank you and thank you for NOT going that route!
Overall the story was great, I loved the suspense and the romance. Well, I don't know about the suspense because it kept me reading instead of STUDYING.
One criticism was in the beginning when you had some of Jin's thoughts a little OOC, he seemed too eager or cheery in some of those italicized thoughts. Otherwise I loved everything.
If you have time to respond to this, I was wondering if you have a favorite pairing, or if you like both equally? I saw your other stories and how you have FuuxMugen in some of them, and even JinxMugen.
Alright. That's enough, I should go fail my test now.

souperkyoot 2008-06-29 . chapter 36I promised myself I wouldn't cry until the last chapter.
I broke that promise twice.
So now I've cried more than I did while watching the actual show.
You've truly touched my heart, may you never stop writing never ever ever ever. |
Tori Shiroi 2008-06-03 . chapter 1Simply. The Best. Samurai Champloo. Fanfiction. EVER.
Thank you for this truly wonderful piece of writing. I couldn't glue myself off my monitor till 4 AM, when the sleep finally overtook me. And in the morning the first thing I did was jumping back to my computer to read the remaining chapters. This story made me laugh out loud, yell at the monitor in frustration, cry and turn away in horror being not able to read on. But I still finished it, and I can say that was one of the most gripping, most well-written, most attentive to details and most true to the original character and atmosphere pieces of fanfiction I've ever read. And I have read many.
Arigatou gozaimashita, dear 3Jane! This was a masterpiece. |
 Murphyangel 2008-04-29 . chapter 36fantastic story!! |
Tiikeriveljekset 2008-03-06 . chapter 9You got good one here. ^^ Hope you continue writing in all. |
 Cucumber-chan 2008-03-01 . chapter 1I am speechless. Wait, no I'm not!
If manglobe ever made a sequel to Samurai Champloo, this is what I would want it to be. You took the characters and added a whole other dimension to them that the anime never had. I also loved how you tied up so many loose ends like Yatsuha and Bundai. It gave a sense of satisfaction and closure, because the series (I felt) ended so abruptly. This is the first time I've ever read a fanfiction that was this long to the end, and you managed to keep my attention through the whole thing. You made me laugh out loud in some places, and moved me to tears in others. I cannot properly express how much I loved reading this story, except maybe that one of the reasons I signed up here was to comment on this story.
Very, very well done. Please continue writing these gems! |
Triste1 2008-02-24 . chapter 36I haven't read a Samurai champloo fanfic in a long time, but I'm so very glad I read this one. It was lovely. I absolutely loved it. Your descriptions of scenes were wonderful and the way you brought the characters to life was magnificant. It was like watching everything happen before my eyes, and it's been such a long while since I've been able to properly lose myself in a story like I did this one.
There was enough intrigue everywhere to keep me on the edge of my seat, humour interspersed at the best of places; and the character intereaction was amazing. One minute I'm rooting for Jin (who I happen to like paired with Fuu, if I'm going to be absolutely honest) and the next I'm sympathising with Mugen. You make them so real, so understandable, it was truly a wonderful experience. And the history play behind it all; I'm not very big on Asian history just yet, but I'm sure this will help make my East Asian civilization course come alive for me in a way a mere textbook couldn't. I am truly impressed. On top of everything, you grammar was sound.
You have truly earned my respect. Keep writing, and may you have the best of luck with future works. |
shadowglove 2008-02-05 . chapter 36u have NO idea how happy I am that you had JIN and FUU together, which is unbelievable since I really couldn't imagine them together and am a hardcore Mugen x Fuu fan...but I was reading this fic and saying "if she DARES let FUU end up with MUGEN!" lololol. Definitely liking Jin. Thanks for the great read! |
shadowglove 2008-02-05 . chapter 14love this so far. Will continue to read rest later! |
