great one shot. you really captured both dumbledore and snape in this short but fantastic fic. im really glad to have found a story that can characterize dumbledore as he really is- a leader in war. he does genuinely care for snape, but at the same time he can't just think of snape. theres a greater good. marvelous job at creating that distinction.

Yes, I like that one too. Very much like I always imagined the missing scene in GoF.

"But I had to send him – he is just one man, and God knows I care about him, but he can save the lives of hundreds, maybe thousands. I can’t afford to give in to sentiment; we have a war on our hands" - And this, I imagine, is exactly the logic our wise, omniscient Headmaster follows.

The only thing that niggles at me is Snape's personality here. Even in his exhausted, hurting state and in the presence of Dumbledore's love, I can't picture him reacting so quietly, all signs of vitriol gone. But otherwise, this piece is terribly beautiful. I love it. Favorites again.

Good, nice atmosphere, well written. Dumbledores made lots of mistakes when you think about it, and this is probably one of them.

Just found this. Nice piece. I always like Snape and Dumbledore interaction. I like your "take" in this that Dumbledore does care about what he's done to Snape, but still feels he must go ahead because there's so much more at stake.

Oh, this is *excellent*. The anxiety and fear come across very strongly and I particularly like your portrayal of Severus. I also love Dumbledore's guilt - it comes across strongly and realistically. I think you've painted a very accurate picture from this part of GoF.

This was amazing. So... angsty. So dark... and yet... it was beautiful at the same time. Great job, it was a well written, a well charachterized, and an alltogether great fic!

I really liked this. They are both stuck in a situation that doesn't allow them much choice, but I do agree that Albus would send Snape back to Voldemort with a very heavy heart.

Perfect! I have no other words to describe this. I think I have already read it before but since then I haven't found anything in this quality to this topic. And should I be honest - I rather like your Dumbledore and your Snape. Both not happy with the things they have to do but doing them nevertheless when it's necessary. And caring for each other... I really think they do. Just look at the end of SS/PS and read the part in the hospital wing. Dumbledore is very happy to have Snape "back." And I really liked the scene at the end of Goblet of Fire (film) where Snape lay his hand on Dumbledore's shoulder as in support... Back to your fic - really good. And added to C2 Severus Snape where I am staff. (-:
