This is a wonderful, warm story, and it fits our Wally to a T. I mean, "He was just a guy. He put his pants on one leg at a time like everyone else." Not only is this damnably funny (made me laugh out loud), it's also just so very true :o) And that's exactly the reasons we love him. The uncomplicated complexity, the goofs and laughs - the *warm* and human stuff. Thanks for a good moment!

i love wally, he is one of my favourite superheroes for the exact reasons you use here, like him being the same as the flash or just wally being a normal guy.

this was really nicely written and i liked the little refernces at the end, i'm assuming the last one was to 'infinate crisis'. :)

I had to first watch Flash and Substance, before I decided to review it because I didn't understand some of the references. But now that I have, I still find myself liking it. In general writers forget how time would affect a speedster, and one as optimistic as Wally. In fact that's one thing that I liked about this story was how the difference between Wally and The Flash were just not there. It rang true that The Flash is indeed the kid's friend hero, he spends as much time with them than anyone else as far as I can tell. It was short, sweet, and just nice. Very nice.

I loved your fic. You really got into Wally's head. And hey, I'm glad my story was able to help inspire this. That's the purpose of stories, they help inspire others to build upon and improve.

Just so you know, I added this to my favorites. I especially liked "When he'd first put on a uniform as Kid Flash. (Stupid Roy, taking the name Speedy first.)" That line still makes me laugh.

You've managed to put down everything that makes Wally Wally in one story, and I congratulate you for it. I've never read a story with such a firm grasp of any character before, and it's a wonder to read.

I like the idea that Wally was a reserve member of the League, and how he only started coming back once he saw how things were becoming with his colleagues. Maybe Captain Marvel's speech in 'Clash' affected him, too.

And I'll agree with balletangel19 on this; there was a certain poetic feel to it that lends a more grand tone to Wally.

TO be honest, I like Flash, but he's not one of my fave characters. I thought this was an excellent story though. Never thought about Wally's perspective.
