| ratcreature 2008-03-27 . chapter 3 I was rather jarred by the DNA test mention, because they didn't have DNA tests back when Peter was a child. The technology wasn't developed until the mid to late 80s (I think the technology was developed in 1985 and the first use for criminal trial was in 1987) and it was not in common use for quite some time, as obviously it was even more expensive and with fewer facilities equipped to do this genetic fingerpriniting in the early days. Considering that KFTLC itself takes place in a contemporary 1993-1997 setting and the temple was destroyed 15 years earlier than the series' start, iirc, that would place the story in 1978 or thereabout, long before the DNA technology was invented, let alone in common use. I liked the setup otherwise, but that really threw me out of the story. |
