And that dialogue is excellently constructed to sound very similar to Tolkien's. I myself have often wondered about Galadriel and her position as High Queen - if it would have been offered, or if she might have thought of taking it. It is certain that many would have followed her. The political and historical machinations of this story are very well handled, and I like it a great deal. The only suggestions I could make would be to either shift the location of the tale (which isn't important to the discussion) to the whole of the journey back to Imladris - thus, have them having this conversation over many days in many different locations. Either that, or present it in the same style as one of Tolkien's own historical tales (i.e. the ones we get at that back of the books). But, those would be different stories - not really a re-working of this. And this is excellent and I really like it. |
