Oh my gosh, this is so sad! I ship both N/N and N/F; it depends on the situation. So although I liked 'Nancy's Heart' I almost like this better. But I'm a sucker for angst. BTW, love the last line. Nice job.

And this is Ned how I like him best. I'm a F/N shipper, no doubt, but Ned has always had a spot in my heart as well. After all, Nancy and Ned...the two names go together just as easily as Nancy and Frank.

But poor Ned rarely managed to break out of the mold the ghostwriters gave him and become a whole character. We got fragmented bits of him, glimpses of how right he was for her...and then he was snapped back into the usual mold.

Fanfic like this, however, take the fragments, assemble them, and voila. A Ned who is human, believable, and very sympathetic. (I'm pretty sure that's the word I want)

Poor Ned.

It's sad the inconsistency between ghostwriters in the Casefiles when I think about it. There's times Ned is totally gung-ho about a Case, and there every step of the way to help Nancy, and other times he's this close to being a total, insensitive cad.

Thanks for writing something from Ned's POV where he wasn't a villain or a jerk. He's very human, very sweet, and very sympathetic. And I loved the ending, even though Ned won't get to have his 'almost perfect' girl in his life...but who knows what awaits him in his 'new future'...

Horrible Nancy and Ned belong together.

I like the story and I think you did a great job of expressing the emotions of someone in a long-term relationship that did not work out.

i like it, even though, of course, i am totally against angst like this unless it ends with them back together. ;)

I liked this a lot -- very realistic way of handling Ned's exit from Nancy's life! I can totally see them trying to make it work as just friends first, but then Nancy's engagement to Frank being the final straw for Ned. I'm so glad that you wrote this -- it compliments the "Nancy's Heart" universe well. And I can see why it might be better to have Ned have his own fic, rather than bringing him into "Nancy's Heart" too -- after all, Nancy has enough men to deal with in that story! :)

Aw, poor Ned! And I don't even really like him that much, lol. This was a really nice little story to go along with Nancy's Heart. The Mystery of the Missing Ned is finally solved! :D

BTW, I liked how you pointed out that Frank wasn't completely perfect, either. It makes him more believable as a person. However, it's now left me wondering what happened with him and Callie. Did she ever find out about Nancy? Hmm... Would you consider writing a nice little story explaining that angle? :P Yes, I'm shameless, I know. I just love your stories! And I love angst/drama.

loved this... truthfully I don't really like ned either. However, I've always pictured him to be the type of guy who seeks perfection and expects it in the people that he associates with, so this title and story fit his personality wonderfully. I also liked that you didn't make him the "bad" guy, he loved nancy they just weren't soulmates like she and Frank. great little story! Also loved the angst & jealousy...

Good for Ned. I'm not a fan either, but I like the way you wrote this, with the recurring theme of perfection and how their relationship could never truly be that way and how it was the little imperfections that drove them apart for good and oh, look at the title, lol.

I don't like Ned either, he's too protective. Frank understands that Nancy needs some mystery, since he's the same. Even Mick does. I used to like Ned in the books, I actually cried in one of the books when they broke up (which actually happened a lot). Then I read the supermysteries and I was like HELLO Frank GOODBYE Ned. LOL. I liked this story. Are you going to bring Ned into the story (NDHTGM)? Ned doesn't even KNOW about Mick!
