Some people seem to manage fine when it's stressful, and then breakdown afterwards. Perhaps a kind of survival instinct?

I like the strength in Kaoru as you've written her and her faith in Kenshin. He doesn't show up until the end, but is still a strong presence in the story. I like the way her fears for him are unfounded. Nicely done.

Oh! ::applauds:: This was simply wonderful, and I can't believe I haven't gotten around to reading it until now. I was favourites hopping and clicked on a few things randomly, winding up at your author's page. This one didn't seem familiar and I thought I'd give it a go, only to be sucked in by your always-excellent storytelling and wonderful characterisation. I loved the strength Kaoru displayed here and the exchange with Kenshin at the end was just too lovely for words.

As usual, fantastic writing - I'll be faving this one for re-reading pleasure. Thanks for the great fic!
