Very nice. I could easily see these thoughts coming from Kouga at this point, especially since there is no Ayame in the manga. It's sad, but I am sure that's why he left after Kikyo's death. As guilty as Kagome may feel and as much as she must hate seeing Inuyasha in pain, a part of her surely can't help but be relieved at the final death of her rival. And poor Kouga couldn't help but see the hope in her eyes. Tragic but true. Great job.
