I like the second version better, but the only thing that bothered me is they never actually got together. I'm not saying do another rewrite, cause I'm pretty sure you don't want to do a third one, I'm just saying it would have been cute. NOw that all probably came out the way i didn't want to, so here's the whole point of the review: Great Story!

I thought this was cute, but it moved too fast.

I can see Hermione thinking about Ron vs. Harry after Ron refuses to carry her and Harry does, but I cannot see her dumping Ron & being with Harry in 30 seconds.

Suggestion break this into 3-4 chapters:
Chapter 1 - the stairs scene, Harry carries Hermione

Chapter 2 - Hermione thinks long & hard about the differences between Ron & Harry, who she is really compatible with, etc. Maybe discuss with another girl (not Ginny) or Hermione's mom. You could break this into two chapters depending on length (1 - Hermione reflects, 2 - Hermione discusses).

Chapter 3 - Hermione tells Harry and we see his reaction.

Another negative criticism is we don't really see much of Harry's emotions towards Hermione.

I think Hermione was close, but Ron was kind of OOC, he let go our bushy-haired sweetheart too easily... The real Ron would have thrown a fit!
