I agree most emphatically with your author's note. And this was very,very sweet. I've always had a soft spot for Angel/Cordy friendship stories, and the fact that there was basically NOBODY for him after they turned Darla in front of his very eyes...

This fic went a good way in rectifying some of that. Sometimes I wonder of Joss Whedon's ultimate plan for Angel is to have him go insane. I mean two hundred plus years of all that angst?
