This is a very good start. I never thought of thinking that Ryoma is similar to Fuji but now you got me thinking. You have a good writing style the pace is just right, not too fast, not too slow.

Yay for alert! This seems like the beginning of a long fic (is it?) and I like the way you've built up the scenario here. The contrast beween Ryouma in America and Japan is one that doesn't get much mention in the fics I've read--good to see it here. And very nice writing. Your Fuji is great. Is there a newspaper called Tokyo Times?
