abuseWow. I never knew a story could make me laugh so much! You write so very well and conversationally. Thanks a ton. I hope to see more from you! :)

abuseI love the Spartan efras, and the poetic justice of Beregond being injured trying to bar somebody from protecting Faramir.

abuseheeheehee that was funny. I smoked something my brother made out of a houseplant once. I can identify.

abuseI enjoyed reading this a lot, it seemed really sweet to me; also, you got the feel of a tale told from the point of view of a child quite right - good job!

I liked the idea of the efras and how they were 'described' -"an evil kind of fish that are found in [...] a few other unfortunate Gondorian rivers" he :) - and the reasons why the Rangers swore by them.

Mostly, though, I liked the way you described the reactions of each character (although I did find Eowyn to be a bit harsh for my liking - but that's just how I see it); the story has a particular rhythm to it which never wavers, and the action seems quite natural.

Like I said, good job!

abuseOh, when I think that they wanted to make Gandalf suck toffees for PC...

That's a very nice scene. I love the style of the narrative and especially Firiel!

abuseI was quite annoyed at the insertion, in the ROTK movie, of Merry's line "You smoke too much, Pippin" - though I can't remember whether it was in the theatrical release as well as the Extended Edition (where a ghastly bit with Gandalf choking on his pipe appeared). Prof. Tolkien would roll over in his grave! Any sensible person would understand that Numenoreans, wizards, and hobbits had a smoke-proof immune system and could smoke without fear if they desired, whereas the modern human should be advised as to possible dangers of smoking.

Anyway, this story was most amusing. Firiel really gets away with just about anything because she is cute, sweet, and probably even more fiercely devoted to Faramir than Beregond, if such a thing is possible. I do hope that Firiel is eventually able to move away from home and devote her life to purposes other than Protecting Faramir, as noble a cause as it is; I would hope to see her have other things in her future, as I'm sure both her parents would as well...

I hope somebody cleaned out poor Beregond's bite wound.

Loved the bit about the temperamental Cook...

abuseI'm glad neither Faramir nor his son took up smoking.I made Aragorn give it up to please Arwen in my stories.
I just love your Firiel and her bond with Faramir,as well as her kindness to her brother.
