I have found this to be a fairly good drabble.

Zooxanthellae live within coral, and provide it with its colouring. The fact that consumers are likened to zooxanthellae is amusing because they are essential to the corals survival, just as consumers are essential to the survival of any business. Without people to buy from it, the company would make no further money. Thus dying the same slow death of a polyp that has lost its zooxanthellae.

If I have answered you correctly, I would like the points to be given to Ravenclaw please.

(I got lucky, I recently had completed a project for Biology on this very subject.)

Nice wordplay and a well-written drabble. Although I cannot imagine Artemis being such a megalomaniac. He's always been a very behind the scene kind of person (note all his pseudonyms). However, if you replace Artemis with Jon Spiro we'll have something more believable.

... You need to get a bit more OUT with your talent, honey. It's so sad that the most well-written fics are not understood

"He became the polyp of the coral that branched out and replaced the old economies of the world with a single worldwide economy" very poetic and flowing. Gah, I heart poetic fics.

Great story! And I'll have to say Zooxanthellae would be servants. Did I win?
