There were some nice moments in your story - loved the line "Why am I thinking?" That would be so Amanda. And your story line is interesting. Couple of points though, I really want to know what happened to Mike and his family - why were they killed? What led the killer to Mike's family? And would Lee's fears of endangering Amanda's family have played more into his not starting a relationship with Amanda? That doesn't seem to be addressed. The only other thing that bothered me a bit was the pacing - from first kiss to I love you was only a few seconds - sure we all know that was what he was really feeling - but saying it is much different than feeling it.

You have a smooth writing style and it reads easily. I also enjoyed the introspection parts of your story. Hope that you have some more stories to share with us!

I liked your first effort. It was a very romantic, alternate way for Lee and Amanda to begin their relationship.
