Ellisguy 2006-05-16 . chapter 2I find it strange that in this dealing with the "Alliance" that Mal would have Jayne up on a catwalk with a gun. Most times, Mal would show complete compliance by having his full crew in plain sight. This is particularly so when there is a heavily armed ship just outside the airlock. You may be thinking of "The Message" scenario when they were being chased by an Alliance patrol ship. In this scenario, however, Mal only allowed the Alliance officers to board once they knew, that they had them out-gunned, and pretty much destroyed what they were after in the first place. I feel Mal would have been much more compliant with the supposed Alliance officers boarding his ship.
Another thing that bothered me about this chapter is from the standpoint of Spock. Spock could have easily used the tricorder to detect Simon and River from in the middle of the cargo bay, and I find it very unlike him to go wandering off from the side of his captain. I think Kirk would have first asked Mal if his men could scan the ship before doing so. As well, I don't think Kirk would have been upset as to the discovery of Simon and River, just curious as to why those two were hiding.
I consider myself both a Browncoat and a Trekkie, so I do appreciate the effort that you have put into this. I just feel that this situation would have ended more peaceably, and with offers of help from Kirk and Spock. I'm sure they'd be curious as to what quantum anomaly brought Mal and his crew from an alternate timeline/universe. |
