No, actually, I don't have an opinion on who this is. ^^ I like the analogy "A boat and its sail on an endless sea" and the last line "I cannot help but envy them." You're really good at writing poems, and I hope you add another one soon.

The thing I really love about Once Upon a Time in Shanghai (other than the lovely title) is how Enishi and Mei-mei's relationship parallels that of Kenshin and Tomoe's. (Hopefully it won't end up the same way!). I like the way this poem is written--it's definitely longer than the haiku, but just as good. I like the way you've separated the lines. It gives the poem a kind of rhythm, which is actually hard for me to do when I write free verse. The last six lines are my favorite by far.

Haikus are probably my favorite form of poetry, because the really good ones pack so much meaning into three little lines, and a limited number of syllables. Which is exactly what you've done, so that's really great.

Nice addition! I love the wistfulness to this, and the way it flows so smoothly...the boat and sail analogy, I thought that was intriguing! For some reason, this reminds me a little of Tomoe and Kenshin...It's beautiful.

You know I love it ^^. Y'know, it's interesting how similar a lot of the female characters are in RK. It is an appealing idea, and it works with the theme of the manga, but I hope Watsuki-sensei broadens his characters in his new manga...

Anyways, yes, it's very well done and flows nicely. The parallels between Kaoru and Mei-mei are very well drawn. I love all poetry, no matter what you have to appreciate it for the effort and meaning it may have. You write very well...I APPRECIATE THIS SO MUCH!! ^^

Another lovely addition..

Good work on this... and yes thers nothing wrong with varied povs..

"He cannot deny his rock,

his savior."... this has me a lil confused... but heh..

Looking forward to more soon..

I'll bet I know exACTly who this is, in spite of your assertion that there is no "correct" person! It can only be... (but, no, I'll email you... No, maybe I'll just write a piece on it.)

Beyond that, however, this is wrenchingly beautiful: the one standing by, yearning for what is possible for the others, but not for her, never for her.

Well I haven't read Once Upon a Time yet, though I definitely plan to. But still, it made sense to me. Enishi's thoughts...on Tomoe, on Kenshin, and then on Mei...I thought it was beautifully written, simple, and the repetition of 'sister' throughout was especially good. I loved the ending lines. Great job!

(thank god for gmail notifier :P). I like it a lot better than the first version! It flows so much easier! Aww, it makes me feel so sad for Enishi and Mei-mei, so much complicated drama! Can't wait for the next one! XD (wow, exclamation points on ever sentence!)

I like the feeling in this--raw and desperate and ragged--great job with this!

Good haiku!

A week eh? Prolly would have taken me a decade, lol. Haikus are so difficult, in my opinion.

I like how this is like a summary, of the important thing-- these two people given a second chance, in a harsh world...

I can't wait to read the others.
