I think you've got a good thing going here. I read the original and I liked it. There's some things in that one that I miss in the remake. It's still good, though. Both of them.

Show a little more confidence in yourself, and you'll do just fine. I wasn't very confident when I first started either, but you've certainly got potential. Go for it!
