Withdrawn 2008-10-16 . chapter 1Brilliant and beautiful. It's also the exact truth. Tousen gets called a hypocrite in a lot of fanfics I've seen, be them good or bad. The thing is though, that while being a hypocrite, unlike being evil, is something a person can be self-aware of, Tousen doesn't see it that way. According to Tousen, what he is doing is right, and it is necessary. He's not totally being delusional, but he's falling to his own ego, and he's not fully thinking, he's not considering things from other people's points of view, heck, he doesn't even seem to be considering that there are any other points of view (or at least that the others have any validity to them). It's really both rather annoying and sort of tragic, because, while I'm betting that they'll 'save Tousen' in the manga, honestly if the author is to be true to the character, either that will be nearly impossible and will be a long and difficult task, or they'll eventually have to realize that he is too stubbornly convicted to his own twisted ideals, and there really is no other way than killing him (which isn't true, but there's no way that they'd go into that level of counseling in a shonen manga) Te be completely honest, I'm sort of surprised to see Tousen in a shonen manga like Bleach, he seems more fitting to be in something like the Tales of series of videogames... but ah well, such is how it is. |
 Pyromaniac-Girl 2008-02-25 . chapter 1That was a very cool fic.
Tousen is such a cool person. It is a shame that he is evil.
Have a good day!! |
Nonair 2008-02-04 . chapter 1Wonderful piece about Tousen. It's hard to find good Tousen fic there, this is one of the best I've ever read. Of any kind of fic. The way you've written him is so sad and sweet. I loved it. |
Jen-chan 2007-10-17 . chapter 1 I really like how you write regarding Tousen's thoughts. He is my favorite character in Bleach and it's saddening that more people don't write about him. Thanks for the wonderful fic! |
 shokai 2007-02-02 . chapter 1Very beautiful and thought-provoking. |
Corgi 2007-01-16 . chapter 1 'The day you don’t approve of my choice to kill, Aizen tells him, I hope you will step in front of my sword.'
You've always been brilliant at pulling out a character and telling what feels like the absolute truth about them, even when canon veers in a different direction. This makes Tousen's motivations a lot clearer for me; it feels just exactly right.
The line I quoted above nails an unease I'm feeling about the character's direction. I suspect he's going to end up as the wild card in Aizen's deck, and may prove to be the shinigamis' luck - which is also likely to prove fatal for him. After all, Aizen's domination does not seem to hold much justice in it in the long run, does it.
I owe you more reviewage, but I need to do some rereading and musing first to do the other stories justice *grin*. |
 Warg 2006-11-21 . chapter 1Hey..
Just amazing this.. great usage of repetitions, clear images drawing effectively to the other senses while the setting is kept purposely controlled and dark.
In the end, the last line that is, should "is" not be replaced or better yet, added to the "was"? Easily discarded suggestion ^__^
Through the narrative, and the dips into the character, his sights, his goals, what comes out strongest is his determination.. once more, wonderful use of the repetitions, each adding their own bit to the fic.
And since i'm rambling, I stop here. :)

StarFire and Sakura 2006-10-28 . chapter 1Wow. You made me like my least favorite character in Bleach a bit more. The last line... oh, the irony.
Oh, the irony that Tousen doesn't believe in. |
FallenStarAngel 2006-06-28 . chapter 1Woah. I got the chills reading that last line, it was so powerful.
I've never really liked Tousen, but you've let me see into him in such a way that I can at least understand him and appreciate him as he is. This was really sad, but I believe it is true to his character, as all your writing is. I could really feel his emotions in your writing.
I'd love to see more of your views on the other captains, and I can't wait for more chapters of Frozen Sky and Facets. ^_^ |
Hiro-tyre 2006-06-14 . chapter 1Oh my heck. That last line just killed me. This is an excellant analysation of Tousen-- the only on I've seen, true, but no doubt the best. |
incandescens 2006-06-05 . chapter 1 This is a beautiful piece, and I will be borrowing concepts from it for my own Tousen. Thank you very much! |
Growing Pain 2006-05-21 . chapter 1Very nice perspective of Tousen you have provided here. I really like it, and his character is quite rare to read about here, so I appreciate that too.
The story had a nice flow, and was very sad to read about, since he really should believe in irony, because he's a walking example of one in my mind :P
Nice story with the past girl, and what she meant to him. Really gave some flesh on the bones, or whatever. And Aizen's importance was covered well too. All I can say you missed is perhaps his good friend Komomaru or whatever his name is :P
Synopsis; A really good read! |
Wesley 2006-05-19 . chapter 1 I think some of that went over my head.
Good work! ^^;

Armageddon Angel 2006-05-19 . chapter 1Finally, a good one-shot about my favorite Captain. This is exactly how I picture his thinking. And because of this, I have to commend you. However, I feel as if it is missing something. Where is Komamura in all of this? I think that he would be important to Tousen's history. But then again, that's only me. Anyways, good job. |
Chajiko 2006-05-19 . chapter 1Once again, a remarkably fine piece of work! Seriously, this is way head-and-shoulders above most of the stuff I have EVER seen here. It flows very well and the sentence structures are just sophisticated enough to be lovely and complex without drawing attention to themselves specifically.
It's a real pleasure to read your work! |
