How come I've only read this fic now? This is such an utterly brilliant piece of writing. I am a hard-core Kenshin&Kaoru and fanatic but I must admit that this fic made me a lot interested in Sano&Kaoru pairing. The fic is not overly romantic but it leaves the reader feeling warm and fuzzy. Sano definitely feels a special kind of friendship for Kaoru, although it seems that he still isn't ready yet to explore its nature. It is definitely love although we're not so sure what kind it is...

The reader is left to ponder if the feelings of the characters would develop, or if would remain the same. Kaoru's heart definitely belongs to Kenshin but what Sano feels is what is uncertain. Undoubtedly, there is something there.. something so delicate and precious but still a little unclear.

The language is so melancholic yet sweet. The characters are not just fictional identities in this story. They are alive. The last part of the story where Sano cradled Kaoru paints a picture of a special kind of bond between two individuals. Putting a label on it would destroy its beauty so it is better left unnamed... it would or would not remain obscure depending on what would Sano do about it. In the end, it all depends on Sano if he would explore it or not.

Truly a lovely one-shot. I do hope you continue making beautiful stories. :)

This is such a touching fic.
Sanosuke and Kaoru are even characterized well.
There are no too fluffy scenes, but it still produces a warm, littly, tingly feeling in my heart.

I hope, desperately hope, that you write more SanoxKao fics in the future.

Powerful and believable. Kenshin sacrificing his happiness to keep her safe... but tearing her apart emotionally in the process? Check. Sano watching over Kaoru and falling in love with her in the process? Check. Kaoru misunderstanding the men in her life? Check. Love the way she pretended to be offended and rounded on him. Spunky gal.

Again... I am speechless. I would urge you to do more SanoXKaoru pieces like this or heck, even a multichaptered fic with your wonderful insights on these two great characters! There seriously aren't enough fics of this great pairing out there and it would be great if you did more of them!
