I'd definitely go for the Better than life idea so as to keep it simple and Jomingo should move into the ship. Also I would have liked Nabiki to be on the ship.

In case you eventually take this up again, i have to say my vote is for Shampoo.

Hm, I say have him teach Shampoo and Ranma -when they get off the planet, he can drop them off at their ship and then leave them. Since he's been stranded so long, I'd think he'd be anxious to return to his home. ANd now that Ranma has started to branch off from martial arts, thats an avenue of his development that you can explore as well later on.

I hope you decide to get back to this. I love seeing how the NWC interact in a Red Dwarf environment. :)

...of course, even in the original Red Dwarf, I preferred the episodes before they could leave the ship and dilute the character interaction with Star Trek-style event-driven conflicts.

Not a bad story so far. Lets see things that can be done with Ranmish\ Red Dwarfish plots . . . lets have the God turn out to be an old Space Invaders \ Berserker Co-Op machine that has been hooked to a mega computer with the religions nuts based upon both ideology. . Its been thinking of moving its religion to other planets and have been scavenging parts from the crashed ships to create its own, but since they all have crashed then only Ranma and Shampoo excellent piloting have saved the last missing part they need (of course) So either they have to defend their ship and repair it , or the NWC dou needs to kick enough butt to steal their huge brand new ship cobbled together with enough Alien Tech\Weapons to make even Cryten jealous.

i say he should teach ranma and shampoo only and i like the scenerio with them getting stuck on the alien warship i think u should give ranma chronokinesis ,combo telepathy, and empathy it would bring in alot of akward sitution with ranma just disapaering ( when he really just walked away ) when akane or someone else is about to deliver ( in there eyes) his just punishment and him etting beat up and yelled at for reading minds
