That is the bad side of Zutara. A crushed Aang that is. But I disagree with you about Zuko's character. And not because I'm a deranged fan girl because I detest Edward Cullen and Zuko and Jet fan girls. Zuko is more than just boring and one sided.

although luckily none of this would ever happen, I'm glad you made the second chapter showing that aang had moved on, and katara realized she made the biggest mistake of her life. Well done.

It's called fanfiction because it is. And you know what, I don't like Zutara. I think her picking Zuko would later cause her pain and regret. You don't like it, don't read it.

Seriously, how can this even be called fanfiction?
It so doesn't keep the characters IC, it doesn't even remotely resemble what would happen, and it's horrible how you think that she would need "payback" and the relationship would end in "no happiness".

I love this story. It's very well-written, and I think it gives a realistic look at what would have happened if, for some inexplicable reason, Katara had chosen Zuko over Aang. I'm a late fan to the series, and I didn't even start watching the episodes until the finale was long since aired. When I had finally finished watching the series, at first I was neutral on the subject of shippings. While I acknowledged the beautiful bond that Aang and Katara shared, I also found it interesting how Katara and Zuko complimented each other in that 'opposites-attract' sort of way. But your story is a very compelling argument why Katara and Aang are simply meant to be, and why "Zutara" would never work out. :-) I'm very glad I read this story, and equally glad that the 'real' series ended the way it did.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this story. It captured exactly how Aang would feel if Katara chose Zuko. I mean as interesting as I find the Zutara dynamic and as open as I am to multishipping I just can't bring myself to read fic for it and I think one of the reasons is for it right here.

I don't think I could bare seeing Aang hurt and that's what most people seem to miss when they write Zutara fic so thank you for showing exactly how things would go if Katara choses Zuko.

LOL. You so remind me of Snoopy. She too is "merciless" on Katara, regardless that she is indeed a devout supporter of Kataang. I have to like keep on reminding her and myself that Zutara!Katara just ain't Bryke!Katara. It just ain't.

Not only has canon shown is that Katara just isn't interested in Zuko (in that way), she's actually allergic to the idea. And no wai would she leave Aang hurt for smexy!Zuko (BLAH).

And heck, let's not forget about Mai. Zuko a.d.o.r.e.s. her, and she saved his life. He would be such an inanely callous bastard if he picked Katara over Mai, even if he did get over his own allergic reaction to Zutara.

I think this is yet another reason that Zutara is such a ship of un-love PLUS it just makes both Zuko and Katara seem like utterly selfish (and stupid) people.

Zutara is a HUGE discredit to both Katara and Zuko's characters. Zutara = completely destroying not only their characters but their reputations.

Lol, little wonder that Mike and Bryan went never never never about Zutara.

I appreciate how you've shown Aang as an handsome man and re-populating the Nation with Airbenders. Personally, the Avatar is a far more interesting guy to have e.g. Master of all 4 Elements and sense of fun.
