Dark and full of angst, not like the Foster's I know and love, but with a very "real" feel to it, because things like this do happen. All involved deserve a little sympathy. Well done, dude, well done indeed.

I can't agree for the simple fact an eight year old isn't likely to be having such deep feelings of love or even understand them. Even IF Mac is a very smart kid, I doubt it.
Great writing, though, nonetheless.
