Is it Kaoru? (Forgive my slowness...) I like the way you use flowers to kind of describe the female character, and how you capture the way Aoshi keeps thinking that he's a terrible man because of his past. And how you also managed to fit all this into one hundred words. I envy you. >.<

You really are on a roll with 100 word fics! I think it's awesome! Especially since you're so good at them. This was sad, yet sweet, dark yet light...you conveyed Aoshi's thoughts on himself so well, and I love how it ends with him taking the flower. Shows that he has not been consumed by self loathing. Congrats on it being your 20th fic! Wooh! I hope you write many more stories! Shine on! :)

I think this may be the first one-shot I've read from you. Nice; it kept that hint of mystery in the air of who Aoshi is making his introspective thoughts about.

I kinda noted that there was a comparison with the flowers that Aoshi spoke of, and the mysterious lady whom hands he had cupped. Flowers can represent many things; of them, serenity and innocence seemed to boom in my mind as I thought of them. Perhaps his mystery woman was, in her own right, a special flower. But maybe I'm reading too much into this.

Anyways, it's a nice one-shot. Though the identity of the woman isn't revealed, I have a good idea what who it was. ^^, given you're latest string of fics, of course. Ja ne!

The beauty of this is in the stark contrast... his world so sombre.. dark and harsh.. and hers... so vibrant, alive..

The ending is perfect.. acceptance.. and hope..

The contrast is what gets me here: his--haunted, dark--and hers--colorful, full of life and light.

And his view of himself: "this ogre". Stunningly harsh, perhaps even more so than "sessha", wouldn't you say?

But even an ogre can want more, can hope to touch beauty and not bruise it.
