This story really makes you think about how people present themselves, and how to pick the best... that you know are the best already.

ok, this was the second time i'v read this, and i loved it. you really could write a story to it, this chapter could have been your prolong, then next chapter you could move to Curdie and how he feels about the whole idea of marriage. in other words i've been dieing for Princess and the Goblins fanfic ever since i found out this site. so please write more.

If you haven't read The Princess and the Goblin, you really ought to. It is far superior to the poorly animated, surprisingly crass movie.

Very AU (I prefer "The Princess and Curdie" to "The Princess and the Goblin" but that might just be personal)- but fantastic! Poor Irene... very well done, I like it. Adding to the favourites list! (A little AU never hurt anyone. After all, if I were to be very nerdy- which I am, I will point out that Au is gold on the periodic table of elements.)

As terrible as it is to admit, I've never read this book. When I was a child, I saw the movie... It was created so long ago, it's not available at any retailer (as far as I know) any longer. I can remember thinking that I was terribly disappointed that the Princess and Curdie shared nothing more than a few perfunctory kisses- at least in the movie. Obviously, the same held true for the book. I'm glad someone decided to expand upon the original story, it was a wonderful reminder of my childhood. One last thing, I am in agreement that this story needs a sequal... Curdie wouldn't let the Princess go without a fight- would he?

That's so sad! The whole thing screams "No one can compare to Curdie!" Which is quite true, of course. Perhaps you'll do some from The Princess and Curdie? It'll be harder of course, since there are fewer scenes with them together, but I bet you could find some really good ones! Please! Great job!

I read the book years ago and loved it but I couldn't ever find it to read it again. I had even forgotten the princesses name. Reading this story did bring back some memories. It really needs a sequel so she can marry Curdie. Curdies songs could match a Princes any day.

Have you read the version with the illustrations by Allan Parry? It rocks, I want to be able to buy it one day. Also, I couldn't understand how George McDonald could screw up the sequel so much! I've tried reading it 3 times and never understood or liked it. Huh.
