| Magician of the light 2008-08-14 ch 22, | abuseReally cool story. When are you going to update it? It's been months since the last one so I'm cirius. Apart from that I can't find anything to moan about so thanks for writing a really good story. See yuh next review. |
| Draeconin 2008-07-17 ch 9, | abuseYou know, I've never envisioned a High Elf, or Wood Elf as smoking, though for the life of me I can't imagine why they wouldn't - other than the fact that tobacco is native to the Americas. But it was introduced to Europe (Spain, I think, with tomatoes at the same time) in the 1500's, and would have been in Great Britain circa 1600, so there are a few hundred years for the use to percolate into elvish society. After nine chapters, my interest in the story is starting to wane. It's no real reflection on your writing abilities, but more on my desire to see and hear more about and from Harry's point of view: his feelings, thoughts, reactions, and so on (It would be the same for any central character in any story). Your writing skills are fine, but the story seems so impersonal. There doesn't seem to be much to draw the reader in and get them interested in the characters. |
| Draeconin 2008-07-17 ch 6, | abuseGlad to see you have the Celtic 'elements' right. :) Have you ever smelled burning mint? NOTHING like the fresh or dried plant. And I don't believe most sage plants are native to Great Britain (especially not white sage, an American plant, which is what is most commonly used for the purpose you're putting it to.) Unfortunately, I'm not sure just what *might* have been used. One possibility is dried pine sap, which has a light, pleasant smell when used as an incense, and might, I think, have the right properties. |
| Draeconin 2008-07-17 ch 5, | abuse>Then at midnight ...sending the Old Year out and welcoming in the New Year. In the old days, the day was measured from sunset to sunset. Not having clocks, how could they tell when midnight came? Noon is fairly easy if the sun is showing, but midnight? No, it's more likely that the hearth fires were put out at sunset, and restarted at sunrise, with a final end-of-year feast starting sometime after sundown. (BTW, did you know that 'bonfire' comes from 'bone fire'? The more able jumped one, the less able ran or walked between two of them in order to cleanse themselves of bad influences, a true pagan tradition for that time of the year.) >so mote it be Pure Wiccan (circa 1954), possibly derived from Thelema. Doesn't have anything to do with old paganism. |
| Draeconin 2008-07-17 ch 4, | abuseAthames are of fairly recent origin, used in ceremonial magic. While it is possible it is older, the most likely beginnings of the use of an athame was in French occult secret societies. Knives used only for magic purposes, usually sacrificial, are far older, of course, but were relegated to the priests of organized religions (both pagan and Abrahamic). I could go on, but the point is that even if the elves had knives used purely for magical purposes (not likely), they would not call it an athame.(Any old knife would do in Harry's part of the world, and metal cost too much not to make practical use of it if you had it.) |
| wingedspiral 2008-06-14 ch 22, | abuseYour story is wonderful, and absolutly under reviewed! I really love character development of the Twins, as well as the situation between Dumbledore and Mrs. Longbottom. Really quite awesome, I love it... Please don't abandon it... |

| bill560682 2008-03-02 ch 21, | abusewell since you want me to tell you about mistakes harry was born in 1980 not 1981 and james and lily were killed in 1981 not 1982. |
| bill560682 2008-02-29 ch 12, | abusea wolf is a very good form it can blend in the muggle world and into the forest it would be very hard for a dragon to do that unless you hide behind a skyscraper or mountain. |
| bill560682 2008-02-29 ch 8, | abusei think dumbledore should go to prison for the rest of his life or even better put to death. |
