Gadfly 2009-12-11 . chapter 24It took a while, but it was marvelous to re-enter this marvelous little fantasy. How sweet to begin with Paige and Nicolas beginning their happily-ever-after. Bunny's straining both her brain cells in plotting, and the Avenants' adventures in Paris progress the characters nicely. Nice also to see Hervé again, and the conflicts you used him to introduce - or rekindle - were handled well. And with Georges' reaction and Gaston's reaction to his reaction, we know there are more conflicts to come. Very good use of the word "perspicacious" - I don't know about the others here, but I had to look it up. Gaston's reasoning in linking "romance languages" to poetry was precious, and the line "Because...I care what you think" - aw. Belle's "Believe me, Gaston, you have much better ways of dazzling me in bed" was cute and clever if just a touch playfully risqué. As usual, another great job. Looking forward to more! (Hint, hint.) |
born4drama 2009-12-04 . chapter 24This was deffinately worth the wait! I can't wait for the next chapter. Thank you for updating. |
Litchi 2009-11-24 . chapter 24 Oh My ! I am such a huge fan of your "Beauty and The Beast" stories and I kept this one bookmarked, checking it every day at first and then less and less often... I had not checked it for 2 or 3 month and yesterday, on an impulse, I did. I almost thought I made a mistake when I read the update date but no, here is a new chapter !
It's my first review on any of your stories (I'm not a great reviewer) but I really wanted to write one to tell you that I'm glad you did not abandon "This Idyllic Scene" and I hope you'll be able to write more often from now on.
There are too many things I like in this story so I won't be able to write all of them but I will start with a few :
- I love your characters' name : I'm French so I understand them and while it's unrealistic to have names corresponding to you like that, it gives this story a charming note :)
- I love your characters : They are a little bit "disneyfied" (exaggerated personalities) but not too much so they fell human anyway : Gaston might be less intellectual than Hervé, he's not stupid and it shows.
- I really want to know what will happen to all of them because I think all of your characters deserve some happiness.
I will stop here because I need to stop at one point or another but I want to say one last time : I love this story so please write the next chapter (and the next and the next) and no matter how much time you need, I will be waiting ;) |
Drucilla Black 2009-11-15 . chapter 24please update again soon...I love this story. It never ceases to amaze me that you've created 2 Belle/Gaston stories that are both in-character and completely believable. |
Tamira 2009-11-05 . chapter 20OH! - I don't like Germain! - He is rude and he thinks power is something that comes without responsibility! - he also is selfish! ... Come to think of it he is quite a bit like the young Gaston... But while Gaston could have made a tiny few of people's life miserable... that Germain one day will be in a postion of power and make a lot of lifes bad...
Hmm... I think I found more differences between Belle and Rosemary. - I think Rosemary takes more care to appearance and what others think than Belle ever would. - But then, she HAS to, being royal probably is a bit like having to be in the spot-light a lot...
She also seems to be softer than Belle in a way, more easily scared... - Not that I think she is somebody to push aroound!
Christophe is a good kid... I just thought: Mimi would be mortified about all the stuff he has to learn! - She thinks he has to be spoiled, but she at least only needs school for reading and writing and maths (and even if she never manages super-much of all of this it won't be a catastrophe...) |
Tamira 2009-11-05 . chapter 19So that was the first... uhm... meeting of Christophe and Belle's girls? - Nice!
It was funny how Mimi thought Christophe has to be a spoiled prat. - Well, he for sure is a stubborn kid, but i think Vincent and Rosemary keep the spoiling down as much as it is possilbe for royals. - And then Mimi poked out her tongue at Chris and... he laughed about it, delighted that not all people act like he was... super-special!
But he also liked Lili... Well, he liked her happyness...
And you know? I suddednly thought... I think one of the girls will end with Christophe, but both would be fine... But that's in years and years...
Mimi could keep him in check and would probably have rows with him, but it would be all on an equal level and I think they are very alike...
And Lili? - It would be like a dream come true and she certaintly would be better than her sister in acting all ladylike and such... - But like I said, that is all. in the future, whatever "that" will be. ;) |
Tamira 2009-11-05 . chapter 18Aw... I feel so bad for Georges, he even got a riffle for christmas, while he hates hunting... and of ocurse it just reminds him that he still did not tell his father and... poor kid! - And reading Gaston's thoughts, well, if he knew his son does hate hunting he WOULD be dissapointed. He would fear the kid would turn out like Hervé. - And well, I would have no problems with that... but Georges definetiely is dfifferent ot Hervé. - He is braver, he is a person who feels books the same way Belle does andhe is a poet, not a scientist (because as much as Hervé admires books and poetry... he goes on it in a very scientific way. - Actually, in the way of looking at books, Alain might be most similar to Hervé of Belle's kids...).
Strangely enough I feel less bad for Mimi getting her book than for Georges getting his riffle... I think it's because while Belle want's to encourage Mimi's reading, she is not about to realy change her daughter... She even gave the kid a book about something she know Mimi loved!
Even with some worrys about Georges, though, this Christmas was great...
-
It's different for Paige, though, she is somewbody I realy worry about... well, not Paige, but her happiness! - She should get Nicolas and nobody else (even though all this first love is for live thing is kinda unrealistic... at least it IS love!), but her mum is working against this.
And while Paige's father isy a nice enough man he has no idea about what his daughter needs and he will probably not intervene for quite some time.
The dress he gave Paige is a nice one, though... and it shows that he at least partly is aware about what his girl wnats...
Oh no, Mme. Grognon CAN'T make Paige marry that miller. - he sounds like a nice enough man, but he is so much older than Paige (what does not have to be bad if both fell in love, but is still wierd...). - he also sounds like the quiet ernest sotr and Paige needs somebody funny, somebody who knows how to draw her out of her snail-house... Somebody like Nicolas! |
Tamira 2009-11-04 . chapter 17oh these mothers! - if that goes on these two mothers will ruin the futures of their daughters... - And both actually well in hteir own way, both love their children! - But poor Paige, poor Suzette.
Paige is crushed right now, all down and sad... And as her parents have a say in whom she can marry, how will she ever get her Nicolas? - Even though I don't think Nicolas loves her less after this. - He probably even admires her more for turning out so sweet and imaginative with the mother she has...
And poor little Suzette. - She has such a crush on Alain and her mum is fueling it... And she probably in secret watches alain so much she knows quite a bit about him... But the way she acted beacuse her mum made her, it scared Alain, it made him wonder what is WRONG with her... and now I think, if these two ever could have a chance, it is only if Suzette escapes the tips of her mother... - She and Alain have to talk without Suzette trying to talk the way her mum teaches her... they just have to get to know each other... but how, if Suzette believes everything Bunny teaches her?
Georges was cute, btw. it looked as if it made him sad just to think that one person he barely knows might have mental problems...
And the Scene with Denis and Lily whirling around was so cute! - there is no little kid who does nhot love to get dizzy! ... These two are so cute together one nearly want's to pair them off, even though they are still FAR to small for this... |
Tamira 2009-11-04 . chapter 16What a cute, cute, cute, CUTE chapter! - sorry, but in this case there is not much else to say.
Apart from: What, Paige does not even play an instrument? I thought playing the piano was seen as a good thing a woman oculd do at that time...
And she has no hobbies? poor girl, that's all just the fault of that nasty mother of hers... |
Tamira 2009-11-04 . chapter 15Wow, Bunny actually came over nice... I know she is just planning to hook up her daughter with Alain, but I had the feeling she genuinely started to feel bad for Belle and Mimi and realy wanted to help... Yes, it was not the sort of help Belle would appricate (and even less Mimi...)but it WAS what she thought was right. - No trying to act in another way than what she thought was right in that moment.
And i have to say she has funny acting skills...
I am happy Belle and Gaston both will continue to support their daughter, though... Oh, and it was believable that Belle WOULD start to worry...
Yay to the end of that chapter and THANKS to little Eriq! :) |
Tamira 2009-11-04 . chapter 14Aww, young love, how cute! - Nicolas and Paige fit well together, he will give her the confidence she needs and she will be the one quieting things down... and stil lthey have the same basic look on things...
It's good to know Mimi has at least two people in town who are not family and stil lthink she did the right thing... Good of Paige to tell her so! :)
Wow, Luq is areal jerk, isn't he? - I think he has to learn that he can not act as if everybody has to bend to his rules... and that he REALY should stop treating his siter like she was his servant and doormat and otherwise not around... |
Tamira 2009-11-04 . chapter 13Oh, POOR Mimi! - I feared things owuld go similar to that for now!
I realy despise Luq at the moment, he does not act as if he was upset because he looked bad in front of the adults, he just acts as if he is seizing the chance to finally get rid of that girl who annoys him so much... - All right, maybe he IS a bit upset, after all he wanted the winning the trophy tro be his big moment... still, I am mad with him...
I wished the other boys would understand, though... they know Mimi, don't they? they should know she would never want to hurt anybody... - I think Eriq will come around soon, though...
The title was a clever choice... people think similar of Mimi now as they did of Belle once... it's, as Belle felled, like a deja vu... Even though they are so different!
So that line of the song as a title made sense... |
Maaiker 2009-11-03 . chapter 24 I'm usually not one to review, since I don't really think I have anything substantial to say. But I just wanted to let you know, that I always check back on your story no matter how long it takes you to update. For your story is always so vibrant, with interesting characters and deep thoughts sub-plots & etc. that I just can't help but to adore it :) Lovely chapter and I do hope to see you continuing this story. Oh And I absolutly LOVED the artwork! The details in it are exquisite! Please to tell your friend that :)

Tamira 2009-11-03 . chapter 12Uh-oh! Mxy poor little Mimi, I think you will not get the positive attention in school you are expecting (and deserve) ... The world you are living in is not ready yet for the way you acted... and even the boys who normally like and accept you might right now feel realy embarassed by being beaten by you.
It's cute how everybody in the family think's Mimi did the right thing. - But the thing is, while yes, it was admireable, kit was not exactly diplomatic. - These boys tried to show their skill in front of a lot of strangers and in front of their parents. - and now they feel humiliated. - And some of the parents might feel the same way... and other parents will feel that Mimi is setting a bad example and that this is showing some not so good light on Belle and Gaston... - I realy hope that not suddendly the whole family will get problems because of this.
I was delighted thlough, when Mimi stood up for herself!
I also was happy with how good alain did and exspecially how great he acted after not getting first.
And Maurice's invention is possibly wonderful. - I mean, doing laundry by hand has to be so HARD! |
Tamira 2009-11-03 . chapter 11Wow, you gave Beast a believable back-story while at the same time showing where it started to differ from the live of Vincent... - I fear Roasalie is wrong, Vincent WOULD have turned into a spoiled tyrant if his parents had died and he had been left in the care of his servants... - He still would have been able to become the wonderful man she knows, but yeah...
Oh, Rosalie! - It seems Vincent is drawn to a certain sort of woman. - One who likes to read, is kind and has back-bone. - And still, Rosalie is no carbon-copy of Belle (even though they'd come along splendid). - She is better in diplomacy, I think... and she knows how to act all the right (royal) way... )I am sure there are more differences, but that are the ones I could see...
You know what? Christophe is one funny kid! - I like him allready... But it would kinda feel wrong to have him paired off with Lili in the end. - I know that girl want's her prince, but I am seeing an ironic twist coming up: I think the girl of the family who does NOT want to be a princess will end up with one prince as husband... all right, all right, that is far off... but still, I think Mimi and Christophe would fit together great! |
