Death to the Sue!

Okay, so I read your website, and I thought it FABULOUS. But then I read the Two Towers again yesterday, and there's something I don't understand, though I have been a Tolkien fan since eleven. When Galadriel gave the message to Legolas through Gandalf, it said:

"Legolas Greenleaf long under tree
In joy thou hast lived. Beware of the Sea!
If thou hearest the cry of the gull on the shore,
Thy heart shall then rest in the forest no more."

Why did she say 'Legolas Greenleaf'?

I love the mixture of wry Mary-Sue-mocking comedy and somewhat dark exploration of the potential horrors of a 'realistic' bamf-fic in this story. As another reviewer pointed out, most Mary Sue bamf-fics, and original stories using the similar trope of someone 'escaping' to a fantastical world, don't consider those left behind (probably because these 'escape' fantasies are written by people with overblown delusions that the regular mundane world is so awful and value-less) as well as things like language barriers, medieval diseases and the like.

Hahahahahaha!! That was...interesting. But funny nonetheless. :>

*rofl* Very interesting. Were I the friend left behind, I would have read the books long before... of course, I'm a reader, not merely a fan-girl. Lovely story, mate.

you should makes this a story and not just a one shot.

I also liked the perspective from the one left behind. None of the Suethors seem to care about THEM...

That was kind of funny. I almost got over my disappointment at finding that this wasn't a Lord of the Rings/X-Men crossover.

*grins* I like it, wonders what happens next- there is a next chapter right?
