Ahh yeah! that was also a scene i adored. Amongst many lol!

Another good un from you dear. Though also a bit mediocre at the same time. I'm please that in the future you make no mention of the 'previous tra'ning' and its almost as though that scene has come straight out of the film.

Since this is your most recent work, I'm reviewing this, but I'm really reviewing every one of your stories. Over the past two days, I've read every single one of them, and I can honestly say that there wasn't one of them I didn't love. I had to stop myself from adding all of them to my favorites, because if I did, most of my faves would be yours. <3 I love your writing.

Mellon nin, you have become a master at writing wonderful Legolas/Little Estel vignettes. You can take the simplest of things and not only portray great little nuggets of friendship, but you also turn them into life lessons.

In this case, you took a simple archery lesson and used your descriptive skill to open a window into the archery lesson itself and then to demonstrate the wisdom we all know our dear elf possesses.

The disappointment and frustration of Estel in not being able to master archery right away made me smile (ah, the impatience of youth). By contrast, you showed the infinite patience Legolas showed while still encouraging the boy.

I loved how you ended with the scene from Moria to show how well Estel had learned his lessons. I also love that scene in the movie with them lined up ready to meet the enemy when the door could no longer them. With Legolas and Aragorn side by side, the Fellowship did, indeed, have a fighting chance. :o)

Poor Estel... Not exactly easy when he's not only a child, just beginning to learn these skills, but in measuring his ability he has only millenniums-old elves to compare himself with. That'd have a way of making any human feel below par. ;)

Aw, I just love the way Legolas has of making him feel better, though - and reassuring him that he's both better than he believes, and not the only person who's ever felt that way. Such a sweet, sweet bit of interaction between the two of them.

And it's awesome the way you tie it in with that scene in the Mines or Moria. That was *such* a wonderful scene. :D

Excellent, excellent story, mellon-nin! Hehe, now I want Legolas' help improving my archery, though... *g*

P.S. Almost finished editing your story! Should have it done within a day or two. ;)

Yes, me too. That did lend a bit more homage to Aragorn's elven upbringing, seeing him standing beside Legolas with that bow! I heard somewhere in the DVD backstory discs that Mr. Mortensen spoke up for Aragorn carrying a bow as well as a sword, because, "if he were out in the wilderness, he would not be hunting food animals with a sword." Very nice insight into what a young man must think who is being taught by those who are already masters if their crafts. It must have seemed that he could never be as good as them in his shorter mortal life!

One of my favorite scenes in the movie, too ;]
Nice little oneshot with Legolas and Estel, hehe I laughed out loud about what their teachers [or in Legolas' case, his father] said about their skills. So hilarious, I could imagine a little dwarven child beating Legolas upside the head with a club. Repeatedly.

I loved the end, too. Aragorn with Legolas by his side, their friendship and loyalty never wavering, even in the danger of battle. LOOVED THIS!

I just had to read this as soon as I saw the update, RL or no... And I am so glad I did!

The summary was enough to get me excited - a certain stubborn young human having archery lessons from a certain Elf, what could be better? *bg*

I can sympathize with Estel's frustration! I've never tried any archery, but I'm sure if I did I wouldn't even have three arrows in the outer rim of the target. (And imagine having to be taught only be masters of the art, all of whom had centuries of practice and experience!)

//“I didn’t think telling me I would be able to defend myself against several blind and lame orcs with wooden swords now was meant to be a compliment.”//
I loved this line. *g* I think 'your' Glorfindel and 'my' Glorfindel share a similar approach to the teaching of swordsmanship. ;-) (Nope, not surprised.)

I agree with Legolas that Thranduil would probably excel with any weapon. I'm so glad I'm not an orc or a spider in Mirkwood!

I loved that scene, too. They make such a brilliant pair!

Loved it, mellon-nin, although I don't think I actually need to say that any more. ;-)

Ah Tinu! ^-^ what a joy it always is to see that you have updated.
First off; I love that scene too! It was the only picture aviable on the cover of our video (since DVD's never not THAT in), all of the Company members at ready to fight in Moria! So I am over joied you chose that scene. I had to say it =D
Ah well... blind and lame orcs with wooden swords? Yeah that is truly a very subtle compliment. But at least Estel had gone beyond the point where he would have simply died without being able to draw his bow, I guess.
You truly believe Thranduil to be more of a swordsman? That is truly an interesting prespective,

I think Gimli would enjoy seeing Legolas during his first century of training!
This was a sweet chapter. I loved the interaction between the two characters. Good job!
By the way, that was one of my favorite scenes too!

Another cute chapter! A mess Legolas and Estel would be a cute sight to see. Who made it to breakfast first? The twins or Legolas and Estel? Off to read another.

lol, this was interesting. Legolas was actually right about dwarves, but that fact that he became such good friends with one speaks oodles about his character; gimli's too.
