Where did Sakura and Shikamaru go? D: *looks around* You may not have started with a plan but you sure as hell had a plot. You threw out the characterization to get there.

1. Shikamaru is close friends with both Ino and Naruto who in turn are best friends with Sakura. How can he not know her unless its outright avoidance?

2. You could insert the names Sasuke and Ino in here and get the same fanfiction D: There's really no staples of characterization here except hair color and the fact that you call Shikamaru "the lazy genin".

You need to include something more OUTSIDE of their relationship.

The writing itself is alright though you need a beta. You tend to forgot verb tenses and use words with practically the same meaning (slim and slender). I understand that sometimes this can be used as a literary device (stream of consciousness and all-though slim and slender is truely a bad phrase no matter what literary device you put it under) but I don't see Shikamaru repeating himself as much because his intelligence leads him to grasp things quickly without having to turn things over in his head as much. Thats just my impression. I haven't actually studies his character in the manga in any sort of depth.

Your summary however? rocks my socks off
