I love this! You have kept the classic feel of a Valdamar story, and yet the style is entirely original. I enjoy the humour but there's a serious story here too.

I actually enjoyed this more than the openings of the last few Valdamar books I read!

Nicely done! I never read your other version of this fic, but I am very impressed with this one either way. The story is well put together and thought out, nothing noticibly wrong grammar or punctuation wise. If this is how you write fanfiction I would love to see some of your original work!

Complicated Steps was the only of your fics I've read - mainly because the others were in fandoms I'm not familiar with. I liked it well enough the first time around (though honestly it's a bit fuzzy; it has to have been a long while since you did anything with it, right?) This though, has the potential to be great. I really liked the premise of the last story, and this is just seems to be (based on as much of an impression I got from the single chapter) a better-written, more... almost contained version. The last seemed to be more wild and carefree, while this one is more... stable. I like that. I also like your invention of a whole new set of characters for the fandom (i'm not sure if i ever reviewed the last one. I'm a bit of a lurker...) but I really appreciate the new characters in an established fandom fics more than I do those characters the author invented.

Right, so, love the fic, and I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the rewrite (and hopefully into new territory as well).

Just when things were getting good in the old story! This rewrite seems a lot more cynical than the last one. Shane in particular seems more cynical, and less bewhildered. I don't think the writing of Complicated Steps was that bad, but I can't really compare them two now huh?
Are you going to redo Cory's story as well? Cory seems (dare I say it) slightly sane this time around, and that is Worrying.
