This is exactly the sort of fanfic I was hoping for when I braved the Mulan section of FFN. I like your writing style very much; I think it's smooth and flowing. I'm also really impressed by how well you got into Shang's head. He sounds completely spot-on when it comes to characterization. I think this is an awesome fic all around and don't really have any decent suggestions on how it could be made better. I think it's a pretty damn excellent read as is. Thanks for sharing the fic with us. ^^

Damn! Thank you for writing this. I have been wondering for a long time about what must have been going on in Li Shang's head throughout all that training and the battle where they almost died. He must have been a very confused man, and you described his emotions perfectly in this story. Great job!

Amazing! First Mulan fic for me, and I can tell it will most likely be the best of any others that I may find. Your portryal of Shang is just so...wow! I could sit here and type a million things I loved about it, but I think that AMAZING pretty much sums it up!!

This was really good! I love the imagery that you created from the war in his head and the one in his heart. Your story was very well written!

I'm not one for fanfiction a whole lot - I find it usually involves someone making up their own character for the main character to fall in love with and thus destroy the whole fun of the fanfic for me. I come to read about the characters I liked, and how other people see them, not to read about some new person who doesn't matter and doesn't fit.

But this was really excellent. You stayed COMPLETELY in character for Shang (I loved that a lot!), which is really important for me. Your writing is elegant and simple; nothing flowery or cornball in here. And you left me wanting more, which was a nice feeling. I really really liked this, and I actually wish you'd write another one. You did an awesome job capturing Shang, and I think you could do equally well with Mulan.

Honestly, I can't see a spot where you could improve the story; it is a small window, and perfect just as. I just wish you'd do another.

Deep and Insightful. A well-written piece. You explored Shang's conflicting emotions with a depth rarely seen in Mulan fanfics. A very worthwhile read. Though it was short, it seemed sufficient. After all, we all know what happens next.
