I endorse the chuunin-as-ANBU possibility! Since members of the ANBU are supposed to be secret, (note the 'supposed') wouldn't it make more sense if most of the ANBU members were chuunin and retired-nin instead of high profile jounin? MAybe even genin, if the ANBU caught the talent soon enough, and convinced them not to ever advance, so no one knows who they are? That's how I see it anyway... (And this theory allows me to play with the idea of ANBU-Iruka, but that's just a side benefit.)

And how have I never thought of this pairing (...threeing?) before? (Granted, I'm not much on threesomes or pairings really anyway, my only exception being AsuKakaKure) It's another of those things that I've never thought of, but that work far better than I would have thought. Perhaps it's because you handle this so well, letting us see how broken Anko is, and how only such an unusual relationship as this can make her whole.
