yuck... good story, well written and thought out but I cant stand Akane. Have to put that out there, it was good but the fact that its Akane/Ranma kills it for me.

I think you killed the suspense way too quick. What I mean by suspense is the part
when Ranma would tell Akane how he felt and all that mushy stuff. You should have
saved that part for later. It would probably be best if you inserted the mushy stuff
after the climax for the excitement to brew among the readers. Neh?

As interesting as this may be, there are a few glaring brilliances here, at least the ones that intrigued me the most about the story:

1. Ranma has been known to be serious on occasion, and this fanfic explores that side of him with a studied care reminicent of the manner in which Ranma conducts himself in the story.

2. Akane reacts just as expected. Her sudden anger, even in light of her knowledge of Ranma's seriousness, is part of who she is, and is perfectly captured.

3. Plus, I love the way in which Ranma finally grows up some, stops acting like a 12 year old, and admits that he loves Akane.

As for the points brought up by the previous reviewer:

As far as I know, there is nothing preventing someone from learning more than one martial art at the same time. In fact, considering the many different styles out there, I would think it prudent that someone learn more than one so that they could better adapt to the attacks of their opponents. So, Akane would not necessarily have to leave the Tendo school to learn from Ranma.

Second, there is nothing new about more advanced students teaching less experienced ones. It's called tutoring. The senior in high school who helps you with your eighth grade math homework doesn't have a teaching degree, neither is he or she considered a master of mathematics. But I bet that they have taken Calculus or Pre-Calc - so they are bound to be better at basic Algebra than someone just learning it, just as Ranma is a better fighter than Akane.

And thirdly, though this one is a bit silly, it's called the "Anything Goes" School of Martial Arts - meaning Ranma can do whatever he wants to.

As interesting as this my be, there a few glaring problems with it.

1. Ranma is not an acknowledged master of his art. (He may be good, but he is still considered a student.)

2. Akane is a student of the TENDO school.

Thus Ranma has no obligation; nor does he even have the right to train Akane.

For Ranma to be able to honorable teach Akane the following apply:

1. Ranma would have to be granted his mastership.

2. Ranma would have to his teaching license.

3. Akane would have to leave the Tendo school.

4. After leaving the Tendo school, Akane would have to ask Ranma to train her.

Another point is that since this is after Saffron, Akane and Ranma are going to talk to each other without the hostility and name calling.
