Well, if you were going for angst (and I'm pretty sure you were), you certainly hit that one on the nose. It almost made me cry, which is pretty rare for a fanfic. I especially liked Kase's chapter, exploring his thoughts on all this. I think you made him a very believable villain.

Oh my. That was... well, breathtaking really. I'm not even sure what to say.

I love this take on the way things were between Kase and Ken before things fell apart. It's also refreshing to see something written from Kase's point of view. I must compliment you on that angle as well- it's understandably difficult to write from such a shadowy minor character's perspective, but you've pulled it off remarkably well and it seems both in-character and believable.

There are some simply amazing lines sprinkled throughout- lines that just hit me really hard and stuck in my head for quite a long time. I'm especially fond of:
'the past is ash and loss is forever.'
Which, honestly, sounds like it could have come out of a poem. Absolutely beautiful. The whole thing has a sort of light, dreamy feel to me, but it's dark and serious throughout, making quite the startling combination.
