I highly enjoyed this story, despite its rather depressing nature. The dynamic between Holmes and Mycroft is pitch perfect.

Oh no! You can't just leave it hanging there! Will there be a sequel??
Of course, I can just imagine an ending myself from the clues of whether Russell and their son will live or not from what you gave in the story, but I'd love a sequel.

Yeah! Gosh, what a good story. Sharp dialogue, very true to the characters. I like the baby's name too- it fits the characters, what they would choose.

I wonder what Mycroft thought of Benjamin Disraeli? Probably thought him wise to be baptized a Christian, and stoutly ignoring the fact that Dizzy didn't actually see a conflict between being Jewish and Christian, if one was Jewish yet accepted Jesus as the actual Messiah.

But this is a pretty realistic portrayal of what Mycroft's attitudes might be. Well done.

This is very good--melancholy without being melodramatic. It's in King's style, but you put your own subtle spin on the characters, Very well-written, very in-character. I look forward to reading your other stories!

Interesting...I liked the comparison of the name to an apple, though it sounds as if Holmes is being a bit un-Holmes-ish...still, I feel bad for him.

Now that Russell has confronted her demons in "Locked Rooms" it will be interesting to see how close your foretelling of the story will be to Ms. King's actual future plot line.

I appreciate your extrapolation of family dynamics and analyses of prejudice between Sherlock & Mycroft.
