I think it is 'pure fromage' as you said, but it's great. In a way it's some of the most clichéd HD themes all rolled into one (love/hate, homophobe Ron, appreciative Hermione, etc) and that's not a bad thing if you do it right. I really like the ending though, because we all know where Harry is! Great story.
