Hello,

Your story is great ! I love science-fiction and I think this idea of yours is so cool. I enjoyed a lot the development, I had so much fun.

I saw you wrote other Alexander's stories with supernatural themes or with fantasy. I think I am going to read some of them because I really enjoy your style a lot.

Thank you,

Barelycold

LUISA 7/4/10 . chapter 1

now my mind is working hard to think of how much the world would change if Hephaestion hadn't died. And noiw even weirder ideas are popping up in my head. disturbing. liked the way Alexander doesn't look like the actor (forgot his name again). in fact I almost always like the way you portray everyone.
dhh 10/19/08 . chapter 1
OMG, I liked this one and YOU really should do a sequel to it...

Sincerely,

Squawl as a talented technician but (according to himself!) "fundamentally lazy and infinitely corruptible" made me instantly like him! His practicality and his irritation at the many small, detailed problems in the scheme of making money off time travel are really fun to read. Also, his disregard for the historical details (beyond what he must know to make the time travel work) is right in-character too, I think - like the comment "waiting to see if they could witness the assassination of some general by some other general." In Squawl's view, of course, they're all just generals, doesn't really matter which is which when even the names are a boggling jumble!

Actually, assuming all one's information about location and time was correct, perhaps space travel (and hence, space travel coordinates etc.) would still be necessary before the time travel, since the universe is expanding and the galaxies have moved...so yeah, time travel would definitely be a hassle! How things would work - the actual mechanisms, the difficulties that are usually overlooked by the general public (as opposed to the technicians etc. who actually make it work) - is an element of SF and AU's I really like, and I love how you delineate all the complications through Squawl's perspective.

You can bet if there were actually such an offer as Squawl made and I had those "credits" I would give him an "eager response!" That lady's insistence on Alexander's appearance is hilarious; odd to think that as idealized as Alexander wanted his own images to be, he ended up "shorter" in the histories, though of course his looks were played up a lot.

The servant, though only a minor character, is written so well too (especially his line "it said...it said...sh -"!)

Alexander's half-irritated, half-anxious, 100 percent caring attitude ("kindness could kill") and Hephaestion's irritability (but ultimate acceptance and appreciation of Alexander's care) were funny and endearing and wonderful. And yet again you put in a little moment of seriousness that, set amidst all the comedy, gives a lovely touch of the heart of their relationship: that paragraph on Hephaestion's opinion of how the artists portray Alexander versus what he's really like, how classical idealizations cannot capture what really makes Alexander so attractive.

I would say "Thank the Gods!" for Squawl's unintended (and uncaring) interference - except I've been exposed to too much media about the terrible potential of altering history. Still, what a wonderful prospect! Who's to say the world wouldn't be a _better_ place if Hephaestion (and hence, most likely, Alexander) had lived longer? Thanks for this very fun SF AtG story!

Now if only you'd been the one to write history XD Just think how the world could have been different lol. I really enjoyed this, it made me laugh my little cotton socks off with glee, and do a little jig of joy. Don't ask _

Well finally added you to Fav Authors list.

I just loved your take on alternate history! If only... yeah, I suppose that would have been one of the great what if's of all time. What would have happened if Hephaistion hadn't died, would they have gone on and conquered the rest of the world? I also really applaud your willingness to explore the physicality of the historical Alexander. I think he led everyone on a merry chase on purpose. What did he really look like? Was he Lysippos "Adonis" or Appelles, slightly feminine looking hero - I'm thinking of the copy of Appelles' work which shows Alex holding a thunderbolt, with Roxanne opposite him. I guess we all have our perfect Alexander in our heads. One thing is certain, he must have been an incredibly charismatic individual to have drawn so many individuals into his little shining web. Thanks for the story, as always c'est magnifique!

Dear Auntie :)

this is a very delightful story! you have mixed science-fiction and History so well! And you make me smile even reading about a very very sad moment...just before Hephaestion's death. Humurous, original and...well done, as always!

Hugs from your little niece :0)

What do you mean, Alexander's not blond and beautiful with pure grey eyes? I would refuse to pay up too! Oh well, at least Hephaistion averted disaster. :)
Ancient Galaxy 7/9/06 . chapter 1
And Moon71 strikes again with the most delectable and intriguing Alexander & Hephaistion story ! Horrah ! Well done !
Becky Greenleaf 7/5/06 . chapter 1
Oh my God. You never cease to amaze me with your originality. And you just keep on doin' it don't you? This story was such a perfect combination of everything: history, humor, sci-fi and a teeny bit of romance.

Do I even need to bother to tell you that I love this story? Okay, I'll tell you anyway. I LOVE THIS STORY. I love your style of writing and your uniqueness. GOD I LOVE the Alexander/Hephaestion love.

Where do you come up with these things from? I am officially amazed.

I really loved the ending. I definitely think that you should have a sequel to this. Maybe showing the consequences of the time travel and the 'chicken incident'.

I could ramble on and on incessantly but I won't waste your time. You are *so* going on my favorite author list.

Love,

Becky Greenleaf
