This is great. I am glad you updated otherwise I never would have seen it in the first place. I like how the story of Lani is embedded in various other episodes, with the real DS9 eps as backdrops to her story. Also, you did a great job depicting an orb experience-- so many people make it too vague or too specific and yours seems right on.

I'm all nervous for her with the Titanic in the holosuite! I can't help but get the musical stuck in my head "There she is, towering high, size and speed unexplored..."

Well, it looks like the vsry fractured social relationships on the Station may offer two individuals who badly need a true friend that they can confide in that opportunity. However, the politcal differences abd opposition of their peoples may pose severe social obstacles to thier attempts to build a trusting relationship. I wish Toru Lani and Glinn Reyal well. They both seem honest and forthright towards each other.

Excellent dialogue in this chapter. You have a real feel for it, and it rang true for both main characters. Likewise, your level of detail and mood are very good. I could almost feel the sexual tension crackling beteween Lani and Reyal (which is kind of strange since I find Cardassians kind of repulsive).

You also answered one of my main questions from the first chapter, namely how could a Bajoran girl, even half-Bajoran, be attracted to a Cardassian? Ah, she simply grew up on Earth and has no knowledge or experience with the Occupation.

You're off to a good start with this one.

Our Lani is quite the little vixen, no?
Reyal seemed to be taken in quite easily by Lani despite his remonstrations that it wasn't "easy". But is sure seemed that way. Lani didn't even have to try very hard. In other words, she shucked him like an ear of corn. 400 bars is nothing to sneeze at.
