I am going to save this story into my favourites, its brilliant. I don't have anything against poor old bootstrap per se, he is a broken man after all. But he was very dramatic in the film as you say, maybe he should have had a little bit more fight in him. Perhaps that will come in the third film? Any hows, fantastic story and very very funny. It actually made me laugh out loud and that a rare thing for me. Well done.
Just~A~Thought 2006-07-18 ch 1, anon.	abuseI totally agree with ur opinion of Bootstrap. I was expecting him to be so cool, they kinda built him up in the first movie. I thought for a minute he would leap into action to save his son, but he friggin' cried! What the hell?! Pirate don't CRY! BTW, nice story. Good therapy for me as well.

And I suppose if I had to spend time with Bill, I'd dislike him too. Davy must be regretting the game that gave Bootstrap eternal servitude, eh?

Against the Grain 2006-07-12 ch 1, anon.	abuseHilarious parody, but I'm actually little more sympathetic to Bootstrap. He really got the short end of the stick. After all, he was thrown off a ship strapped to a cannon for, essentially, doing the right thing--standing up for his true captain. I can't stand being under twelve feet of water for more than a few seconds (it's enough to give me headaches), but being under an entire ocean for a couple YEARS... Not to mention being desperate enough to sell your soul to a monster like Davy Jones. Give the guy some credit. You'd be pretty broken, too.

I loved that he annoyed the heck out of all the other crew members with his pathetic melodrama. And the tears! Priceless! I think my favorite line is "Go find a corner and mope in it!" Hilarious!
