We Naruto fans never got to really know Mikoto, (or anybody else in Sasuke's family, not counting Itachi) but now that I've read your story I feel like maybe I understand her more.

Also, you portrayed Sasuke good at the beginning AND end. I didn't see any OOC-ness.

Great characterization of Mikoto. And I love young Sasuke stories. Well done!

Nice. There's not much we know about Mikoto other than she put up with the Uchiha clan (particularly her husband) with uncommon grace. Alas.

Although, having read your passage about the exotic dancing... she DOES bare some resemblance to the black-haired kunoichi in Yondaime's genin cell. She'd probably be of a comparable age and it just seems like something Jiraiya would work into a mission for his oh-so impressionable students. "No, really! This is of vital importance! And you'll need to wear this!"

..Just incredible. You have no idea how I was just smiling ear to ear as I was reading this oneshot, as I just couldn't help myself. It's because I knew then that I was in for something special. And I'm happy to say that I turned out to be right. I just absolutely loved Mikoto's characterization in this and particularly her interaction and relationship with Sasuke. I just felt that your interpretation of her character was spot-on (based upon what we know of her in the story), and of course you really nailed Sasuke in this, particularly his way of pushing himself to be acknowledged by Fugaku and Itachi. However of course, the true gem was--as I said before--the interaction between Mikoto and Sasuke. I just loved this dialogue for example:

"Taking his concern in stride, Mikoto winked at him and leaned on the counter next to him. "Mm, you're right, Tousan did say that. You're not allowed on the counter or the table. Yes, we must clean up after ourselves. But you know why we have that rule?" She leaned closer and whispered, "Because your mother is actually a pig."

Sasuke laughed.

She smirked. "This'll just be our little secret, okay?"

^You can see their closeness there and the natural conversation (like any parent would say to their child) just adds to the overall feeling.

Anyways, just thank you for making this story. I'm always on the lookout for Mikoto (and especially Sasuke) related stories, so you could imagine this just delivered on so many levels, even despite the fact that it's so well constructed and well written (which is definitely a great bonus you can be sure). It's basically all I could ask for for, so just thank you for writing this. Even thoguh Mikoto doesn't play a prominent role in the manga, I'm glad to see such well written stories dealing with her, so this has definitely gone on my favorites list.
