I have a vague recollection of this story, but then the girl could talk and she had a name that started with a D. Perhaps I'm just confusing stories.

I just looked this up in wikipedia. Appareantly Jade is a gem stone that is usually green; jasper is a gem stone that is usually red or brown.

I don't like the ending. Even if Jackie would jump to the odd conclusion that her daughter hadn't come to visit her in five years or so, she would not slam the door in her face. Although she probably would say: "Oh Rose, how could you."

I'm really enjoying this thus far and can't wait to find out what'll happen next.
